English 52, 60, 100
FORMAT:
When you blog, in the Title, write your first and last name as you would as if you are turning in a paper to me. Then you do not have to write my name because I know you are in my class. Write what English class you are in whether it is English 52, 60, 100 and what College.
For example, one would write:
Yue Hayes
English 52
Cerritos College
Post #1
Homelessness
In addition, for the title, pick the topic of discussion, grammar/organization, content, current events, pop culture or literature as a TITLE that we have discussed in class. Write the posts like this: write #1 Post or #2 Post or Post #50, so I can easily keep track of them and how many you write.
Of course, you are welcome to write more than several posts, and in doing so is another form of participation and does count in the participation grade. Perhaps, in class, you may not participate all that much but in the realm of the blogosphere, you can from the comfort of your own home,
- reflect on the day's class discussion or offer up an insight that you found particularly interesting, etc., etc.
- How does it change the way you think or thought before on the subject?
- What actions might you take in the future? Anything is open to interpretation.
Of course, I need not go on and on about being respectful towards your peers' opinions and beliefs. If you disagree with another student's views be discreet about it: Do not say so and so is completely wrong because of this and that. Instead, say, I disagree with so and so and here are the reasons why I do. Go after their evidence and support and do not, I repeat do not attack someone else personally. This is supposed to be a forum for everyone to share their ideas and views.
*I will enforce the blogosphere by either deleting your hard work, making an example out of you here in the realm of the blogosphere or in class* . . .

I'm really upset that I couldn't go to KIDSWORK because of my job. I went into work this morning, and they sent me home because we weren't busy. I had begged them to give me the day off. I guess I got it, but now it's too late. I missed a life changing experience. Yet, there will always be other ones. I've got to stop beating myself up about this.....

About today's field trip,
I learned something, something I had an idea about but couldnt quite understand,
WE ARE ALWAYS QUICK TO JUDGE, REGARDLESS OF LOOKS,COLOUR, HEIGHT, WEIGHT, ANYTHING, WE JUDGE.
you would have to be a saint not to do so.
when we started talking about the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, I wanted to get my point across, but in the process it got misunderstood.
I wanted to put myself in the shoes of a person trying to be the best that I can to be successful, and if it means getting in someones head, in order for them to buy my product, i will do so. When Chase said they do that at stores, sounds logical, BUT why cant we see it from the other side?
If YOU owned a store, wouldnt you use PROVEN techniques to boost your sales? i.e if you own a candy store, you WILL have candy at a child's eye level. why? because then it is more perceived by the kids and then the product becomes more appealing to be bought. why would anyone play with someone's head iun order to earn a buck? BECAUSE THE THOUGHT OF INCOME IS ALWAYS GOOD.
It is obvious that at a CVS pharmacy in Santa Ana you would have hair colouring products that appeal to a hispanic market rather than an anglo saxon market. it is only a marketing technique. it is only a way to profit, iof you have what costumers want you will thrive. this is proven, nobody is forcing ANYBODY to buy at a place they dont want. so if your business has more costumers of an specific race, culture, background etcetera etcetera, you will try and satisfy them by providing and make the items THEY[you me your mom my mom] want more accessible.
whats the point of this post?
my point is that if you own a business and you want to thrive then you'll do anything you can to do so. Even if it means getting into people's head in order for them to buy your product. What is wrong about doing the best you can , giving it 110% in order to succeed?
if we dont like the way the products are set up in a store, we are not being forced to buy them there.
we always talk about giving our best at anything, but when it comes down to stuff like this is it wrong to seek for your own survival? is it wrong to put alot of thought into things like these PROVEN MARKETING TECHNIQUES?
just my point of view.
wish i could volunteer at Kidworks, but my schedule doe not allow me to, FAIL.
dicated but not read
btw
mr Hsiao,
nice to know all the other sharp cookies in your other classes!
it was good seeing and hearing what everyone had to say,
I had fun at lunch time because it was such a good table, we talked about politics, school, kids, with etc etc,
tis always fun to have an educational meal lol
Hey everyone
How's everyone
Give me a day or so and yes I will talk about our trip. Yes,Gabriel, sharp cookies is a way to put it definitely. There were so many highlights and lowlights as the case may be.
However, yes, I was happy that we could converge and diverge in conversations:
Many of the other students from G.West and Cerritos commented how Cyp. was so tight and focused about conversation: politics, philosophy, argument, race, class, and gender, and much much more. . .
It is a credit to you cookies and you the Cookie Monster/Gabriel, but metaphorically how does that come across:
You eat other cookies?
Hhhmmm?
Not meant as a sleight just a playful rub if you will.
Literal versus figurative
**************************************
Gabriel,
Survive is a matter of contention: I loved how Elsa came down on you when you were misinterpreted, but I have to say that you still have to explain either here or in class what exactly you mean by survival.
I still do not totally get the gist.
What is your American Dream?
How do you identify wants/needs?
Do you really want to be CEO of a ginormous corporation that institutionalizes and allow corruption all for the bottom dollar
or
Do you envision yourself as a CEO of Google who is environmentally efficiently conscious and promotes an egalitarian/utopian type atmosphere that strives for nonoppression? I know you or anyone could argue against egalitarian and utopian being mutually exclusive.
Definitely
These are rhetorical in nature not meant again as a sleight of hand or a turn of phrase.
Thoughts
I mean that in all sincerity.

The biggest message is mentoring is a way of giving back to the community. It is easy to give money (not for some people) and even say good things, but like Gabriel struggled with it is a lot harder to give of your time to actually "let chaos" into your life and push you to "serve" because like Brian said:
"' I went to serve, and I was served.'"
So important a distinction and see it as it really is.
Who was the greatest servant of all?
I needn't answer the question because I believe you know the answer.
Talia,
I hope you are well.
I am fine.

I'm really bummed out I was not able to go to kid works, but what bums me out more is I can't go next weekend either. So I'm really disappointed. :( I really wanted to go to one of these. So hopefully, Mr. Shiao will do one more activity the day after Halloween. I would love to go. I hope everyone had fun and learned so much. :)
I can't wait for the beach clean up. I'm so excited! :)

MR Hsiao,
I was one of the students that finished the mid-term exam last.I did not have a chance to write down the homework for next Monday the 20th. I 'm sorry,Would you please let me know the homework?
thanks...
Adolfo.
Adolfo,
The homework is addressed above to Eva and Rocky, but pertains to all my classes.
Just re(re)ad it carefully.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Kayla,
It is unfortunate that you are not able to join us. Yes, I am planning the beach clean up as we speak. I will get back to you about that and all definitely.
I am glad about your change of major or a consideration as it is.
The Take Home Midterm is the
Title Questions and Answers due on Monday or Tuesday.
Just look at the post titled Eva, and Rocky.
I have explained it fully there.
"explain either here or in class what exactly you mean by survival"
I believe we, as individuals, make our own definitions of survival.
We cannot generalize survival. I cannot recall who said this but they said we are quick to judge without even knowing the person's background,
Survival is open to interpretation, at the end of this post, what I had said will only be an opinion. Wether I'm "wrong" or "right" just by letting my voice be heard my freedom and mind will have survived. We are not in a time in which we have to worry about a bird swooping down and taking us for lunch, or a big carnivore doing so as well, hundreds of years ago that was survival.
I believe todays survivalincludes but it is not limited to mental health, sharing of ideas etc etc.
I survive each day by feeding in knowledge, by sharing ideas, by becoming a being of knowledge, that is my survival. Others survival might be food, money, I don't know, I am not in their head. We can only assume what each others' survival is.
It varies from person to person.
Elsa
Great advice, thanks
Gabriel,
Thank you for you interpretation, and I like what you said in terms of it is a matter of opinion.
You do it so well, opinionize, and I respect that freedom.
My goal is never to limit but to sharpen as the case may be.
Everyone should listen to Elsa more.
Thank you Gabriel.
Anyone else about Kidworks. . .

Mr. Hsiao, I think im not gonna be able to go to the Isaiah House either. Sadly, due to somethings i have to take care of, well not a few but a lot. You know how life is man, it sucks though i really wanted to go.....I really connect with the homeless, have much respect for them. Just of the plain fact that some are Veterans that choose to not follow this system. The system F*%@!D them over, so they choose to not follow it. There just like those african tribes living in the great jungles, except here there living in the concrete jungle. ---Respect for The Homeless--
Addendum to previous post,
everyone should listen to Gabriel--that goes without saying really.
Since Gabriel is the only brave soul or the only one with the time or necessity to post, I will post what he wrote for a reflection, and it is exactly the one he discussed--a singular unique mind--that of only--Sr. Murillo.
(I had students write about the Kidworks' experience)
WHAT I LEARNED TODAY IS:
(Gabriel becomes the forerunner):
I learned that people like to think different, and we are quick to judge even when we say we do not we do.
We judge because that is our nature.
We judge before learning what the background of things [really is] (my addition).
We become fingerpointing puppets that like to judge while we hold a mask saying we do not judge.
--Gabe
I understand Isaias. Life happens, and you do not make excuses, but as a human being you accept what is in front of you.
I am glad that you got the wiring down.
98 problems. . .
Very true about the homeless, you made a good observation.
What I learned today is--
I think it is crazy freeways and other landmarks are used to separate good and bad areas but I guess it makes sense.
--Cara
What I learned today is--
I learned today that many people come from different walks of life. Not only the children at the Santa Ana Kidworks but also the people (referring to all the students from G.West, Cyp., and Cerritos)that came from different schools.
--Candace
What I learned today is--
What I learned from this experience was putting myself in someone else's shoes and seeing how others live their everyday li[ves] [sic]. What amazed me the most were the volunteers. To be so selfless and give up their time to help others, thanks for this wonderful experience!
--Rachel
What I learned today is--
I learned that the "lower" class has a voice, but no one listens to them. When the rich or upper class says or needs something, they get a quick response.
--Jake
What I learned today is--
Many of the things we talked about, I already knew about.
The lower class people have a hard time moving up, to us, the people with money [sic].
I just needed to get a reminder because as one lives one's life, one forgets about the others in need.
--Anonymous
What I learned today is--
The game we played impressed me because it is almost the same as our lives.
The chance like this is not easy to get.
What I learned from this trip is thinking more seriously about my life.
[sic]
--Anonymous
What I learned today is--
What I learned from this trip is that people judge a lot.
Whether it is how we look, race, or age.
I really enjoyed the trip and enjoyed the game we played.
Even though I was in the "rich" group, I was judging as a whole which was pretty funny [grammar?].
I did not care whether I stayed or moved down. I was just taking a chance [playing the game or system] and got lucky [my emphasis].
Unlike a guy in our group which swe did overthrow because he was trying to rip us off (HA HA_.
I learned a lot of what the Kidworks does for families and children, and I wold love to someday get in there [and volunteer my time and care] [my emphasis].
--Anonymous
What I learned today is--
I grew a deeper understanding of how important it is to get to know people before judging them.
Everyone comes from different walks of life, and we should take time to hear their stories and get to know them.
Be there for others as a friend (fragment).
You can always learn something new from someone else and from their life.
Learn from their strengths and mistakes (fragment).
I learned that it is so very important to learn to hear people out.
Take time to hear the background. :]
--Anonymous
What I learned today is--
From this experience, I have learned that people are very judgmental.
People judge by appearance and do not really see what is really within the person inside.
"Do not judge a book by its cover!"

"Questions and Answers"
There should be 5 questions and 5 anwers for each of the 3 Body-paragraphs having an Introduction and a Conclusion.
My question is how do we pick the topic for each paragraph?
Thanks,
Adolfo.
What I learned today is--
(Short but emphatic, I am finishing the best responses here)
*¨¨*:·.There are still some compassionate selfless people in this *¨¨*:·.wasteland*¨¨*:·. of a world that we live in.
*¨¨*:·.There are actually people who want to help others without wanting anything in return.
*¨¨*:·.It is simply to not take life for granted.

Most importantly, never give up, go for your dreams, and never ever ever fear your dreams but *¨¨*:·.CHASE THEM.*¨¨*:·.
(I had to fix a lot of grammar on that one)
I learned that we should not judge people by their social status, and we should be*¨¨*:·. building each other [up] *¨¨*:·. [my emphasis] instead of breaking down each other.
*¨¨*:·.Thank you everyone who could spend their half Saturday with us*¨¨*:·.

Yesterday while visiting KIDWORKS I was questioning if there were any doctors that came to the facility. I know most of the families in the Santa Ana area do not have medical insurance, due to the fact that most of them are immigrants. I guess a RV comes every so often to help them out with their medical needs.I do not think that is enough and i feel very bad for them. They need a 24hr building or place they can go to in case of an emergency. hopefully more doctors will be willing to volunteer at KIDWORKS in the near future...
Adolfo,
Pinpoint what your thesis is (especially you), and then obviously your map sentence that is the main idea of each of your 3 body paragraphs.
After you have those two, map sentence and thesis, which is the whole of your paper really, then you are a step in the right direction.
I will go over organization as well briefly tomorrow. Remind me, come up to me and remind me, Adolfo.
Good work.
Yes,
Candace,
Perhaps, you will when you are on your way to becoming a pediatrician.
Would that not be a perfect calling for you to come down and help when you can?
Just a thought. . .

I don't know if she will take this in a bad way, BUT i see her as the motherly figure in class. She's a tough lady and does not mind speaking her mind. and that makes her an honest, bold, straight to the point person. she speaks from experience.

On Judgement:
i read a lot of the posts that have to do with judging others, and being judged yourself.
Monster - i agree, we are all quick to judge, whether conciously or otherwise. Indeed that is the nature of humanity.
but this is where my opinion differs. I dont think it is necessarily bad do judge. Ive been misjudged plenty of times based on my appearance. but that is not to say that someone cant tell at least one thing about me based solely on my appearance. After all - consider all that goes into our appearances.
Moving beyond appearances, we hear gossip or a simple fact about someone and then draw this huge opinion on them. That is like taking a test and answering only one question. You wont get an accurate appraisal of your intellect, but you can at least determine one thing: for some reason, you answered only one question.
My Point: Judging a person on thin facts is not just, but still, every window of a house gives a perspective on whats inside, no matter how small.
Lately I been really busy. My computer didn’t work in which I haven’t blog here in a while. Then on Friday I have to paint my little brother room and that took my a day. Saturday I have to paint my room and take everything out my room. Finally today, I went to the AIDS Walk from 8 a.m to 12 p.m but I got home at five. Lol so I am really tire of walking…

Each candidate is on there last leg to win over the people. Obama has even targeted the online gamer community. Advertising his campaign on 18 Xbox Live game/servers...very interesting, he had definitely out spent McCain on TV ads as well. McCain showed his face on the Late Show with David Letterman. Laughs, connection, the guy despite his age is still optimistic...even with his VP Palin. She may make an appearence on Saturday Night Live.
Funny how the media profits off such things...SNL's ratings have skyrocketed to 14 million viewers. Just to see Palins skits...they are pretty funny. :)
As of right now:
Stocks are still down - but on the rise. Still under 9000 pts...on friday we left the market down at -22%. Ouch.
For those of you looking for jobs:
it seems hospitals are running low on help. We're even bringing in nurses from other countries (such as the philippines). It might not be your cup of tea but maybe something to think about (not just being a nurse, maybe at the reception desk, back room, behind the scenes. Whos knows). The nursing programs can be hard to get into...yes...but there are many job opportunities behind that door.
Random:
Sorry... but I just read this.
http://www.wikihow.com/Come-up-With-Good-Conversation-Topics
Pretty good write up. Very basic, and depending on the ambitions, those topics at the bottom (those said not to talk about) can make for the most intellecutal converstations. Obviously not to start out with something as bold or blunt, but once confortable, those topics are pretty indepth.
Speaking of great movies I bought fightclub a few days ago. That movie is crazy! Does anybody know anything about long distance bike rides? my friends and I want to ride to New York this summer on bikes for about a month. Anybody have any information to help me out?
I was not able to go to kid works this weekend because I worked Saturday morning and I am really low on money lately but I was able to find out information from my church about a homeless program called S.H.I.P. I am going to sign up for a few days and I am really excited. What i will be doing is just hanging out with people who are homeless and trying to start a new life. possibly have a bonfire with them or what not. I am just a chaperoned because they will be spending the night at the church I go to. I heard it is really fun.

"ITS CALLED THE AMERICAN DREAM CUZ YOU GOTTA BE ASLEEP TO BELIVE IT"
THIS IS A QUOTE FROM THE LATE GREAT GEORGE CARLIN. WHEN I FIRST HEARD IT I THOUGHT IT WAS THE FUNNIEST THING IN THE WORLD, BUT I PAID IT NO REAL THOUGHT. BUT I LOOK AT IT NOW AND REALIZE THAT ITS THE GODS HONEST TRUTH. I'M NOT SAYIN THAT YOU SHOULDNT DREAM, FAR FROM THAT. I WAS DRINKING WITH MY HOMIES THIS WEEKEND AND ONE ASKED ME WHAT IT WAS THAT I WANTED SO I SAID "I WANT TO BE REMEMBERED FOR WHO I WAS, AND HOW MUCHED I LOVED" TO WHICH ONE OF MY FRIENDS REPLYED " I WANT MONEY AND B****S" THEN ANOTHER SAID " I JUST WANT PEACE IN MY LIFE". THERE WE WERE 5 MEN WHO GREW UP TOGETHER EACH WANTING SOMETHING DIFFERENT IN LIFE. WE THINK ALIKE, WE LIVED ALIKE, BUT ASPIRE TO DIFFERENT THINGS. NOW THIS MADE ME REALIZE THAT THERE IS NO AMERICAN DREAM BECAUSE EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT DREAM. THERE IS NO ONE SET DREAM LIFE FOR AMERICANS, SO THERE CANT BE A SET AMERICAN DREAM. I'M JUST SAYING IN ORDER FOR YOU TO BELIVE THAT THERE IS A SET AMERICAN DREAM SHOW IGNORANCE, BECAUSE WHAT YOU BELIVE IS THE AMERICAN DREAM ISNT THE SAME FOR ME, JUST LIKE MY DREAM ISNT FOR YOU. I'M JUST SAYING "ITS CALLED THAT AMIERCAN DREAM CUZ YOU GOT TO BE ASLEEP TO BELIVE IT..."

I hope this is not off topic,
1What is your "american dream"?
2what is your interpretation of YOUR survival?
1.my "american" dream is to have my voice heard, to have my words make an impact in life, my dream is to have the freedom to express my ideas and opinions without having to fear someone silencing my voice. My american dream is to have my thoughts, my voice, my words appreciated. So far I'm living it, haha
2. My version of survival is a bit complicated, I'm always seeking knowledge, always learning always thinking, to me surviving means keeping a healthy mind and a productive brain. My survival depends on my ability to learn new things, I survive by learning, I survive by using critical thinking learned over the years.
Don't know if I made sense, my brain is like thinking about 1000 different things, somehow everything connects to each other haha
Have a good day

Looking forward to doing the debates. Feel I have a strong team
Kids Works was a good experience. Found it sad that people in my "lower class" group seemed to want to give up.I explained to the group you can't give up.
On a side note...
On saturday me and Elsa had a nice discussion, people around us thought we were arguing because we got so into our topic that our expressions, our hand movements, became quick and sharp thus making the impression we had an argument, when in reality we were just sharing opinions and havin a healthy conversation,
:D
I'm still impressed about how smart the other classes were as well,

You're welcome! I'm glad you found it because you'd be in big trouble if you didn't! hehe
I'm super stoked about the debate, but not just because I was picked as the team leader (Although I must say, that felt super amazing).
I definitely think that my choice of people in my group isn't expected, because I chose people who aren't so outspoken in class. I definitely chose people who I've talked to, whom, I think, when given the chance, would be excellent speakers and bring different views. I also think that we're all basically on the same page about things... Not to mention, we're all girls. :]
I'm stoked. I think all my group members are hard workers and very, very intelligent people with a lot of knowledge about different topics/experiences.
Okay, whoever our opposing team ends up to be, BE PREPARED >:D

im so bummed. i wish i could have gone to Kidworks, but im really tight on money right now. i cant offord to go. i have a ticket (which i have to pay today) and i dont have the money, because i just paid my car, phone bill, and insurance. luckily my best friend Jungle Bells helped me out with as much as he possibly could. im going to try my hardest to pay by no later then thursday. hopefully i dont get a warranty. (DAM!)
so back to kidworks, DAMIT! i love kids and even though i did not go to the trip, im so glad they have this program for young children. children are the future and with people as magnificent as the workers from kidworks, they can lead children the right direction and guide them through any obstable to overcome it.
im glad all my other great classmates got to attend. thank you for sharing with us the experience and making me feel like i had been there. you guys rock!

So Kid Works was great. ok I was really hoping to spend time with some of the kids and have fun, so the fact that we didn meet any kids was very disappointing. :(
I was super bummed. We did have the chance to walk around the facility and learn so much about the program. I grew to love it there and i did not even meet any kids. oh and we played this really confusing game. Well I was confused with the actual game, but i did pretty well. the moral of the game was to realize how the wealthy class differs from the middle class and the lower class. The game did a really good job of portraying how each class is typically percieved. I was really suprised to see how great of a job that game did in actually proving a point. It was great to see how everyone understood exactly what the meaning behind the game was. I would absolutely love to go back and volunteer, and i would recommend it to others. oh and i enjoyed meeting many of the other students from different schools. that was fun. I really enjoyed myself.

On Saturday our English class was able to attend a field trip to a place in Santa Ana called Kidworks. Kidworks is a facility that was built in hopes to provide the people of Santa Ana with a safe place to turn to for help with their schooling. It is place that is for the youth and young adults to be able to turn to for a safe hang out both in a physical aspect as well as a mental one. Kidworkds originally started in a rented single unit at an apartment building. It was not long before a man by the name of Dan Donahue, who made a huge impression on this program. He spent long hours trying to raise funds to help the learning community, computer labs, and kindergarten center. He passed away and a benefit was set in his honor. Going for a goal to raise 400,000 dollars, the people of Kidworks raised 1 million dollars. They were able to purchase an old warehouse, renovate it and open a bigger and cleaner community for the people of Santa Ana. Our class was able to walk the same halls that younger kids to kids our age walk. It was impressive that the rooms remained clean and the computer lab housed computers that were in immaculate condition. You could tell that the kids were truly appreciative of the efforts made by the Kidworks team to provide them with modern research to broaden their education. In addition to our tour, we were able to participate in a stimulation game. It was called, Star Power. The game was hosted by another English teacher whose name is Chase. He was a lot like Mr. Hsiao in terms of personality. They were able to relate to us on the same level. We were able to relate to them. The game taught the lesson on greed and social status. We were able to see the discrimination applied toward each of the three working classes. The “higher class” was given a lot more slack, they were accommodated better than the other two classes, and their opinions were considered on a higher standard than the rest of the classes. The middle class were not offered the same luxuries as the higher class, but our opinions were heard and considered. The lower class were rushed and pushed to their emotional limits. They were set in crowded areas and their voices could be screaming but were still not heard by society. The game was easy to identify with and understand since it was in relation to the stories we have read and discussed in class. We ended our adventure with an authentic meal provided by a local restaurant down the street from Kidworks. We had a Kidworks employee sit at our table and shared his experiences he had with the program. We had our lunch in the kindergarten room and I thought that was an appropriate place for the lunch to be held. We were surrounded by the works or art and lessons taught to our future. These tiny hands have so much potential to become the next Picasso, or the mathematical skills to be a famous accountant. I wish we had a chance to meet the neighbors of Santa Ana and hear their stories first hand. We were offered information on how to become a volunteer and I will definitely look into doing so. This program opened my eyes to understand that you do not need a lot of money to impact someone’s life. You just need to offer your support and friendship and be there for someone who needs a friend. I am glad this program and facility is there for the Santa Ana residents. I hope that we will soon hear of more organizations like this one opening up in more and more neighborhoods throughout the country.

Yue,
I agree, i am looking forward to debating. Mostly because it will give me a chance to "discuss" with some of my class mates. I want to weigh some of my ideas against some others to see how they stack up. Itll be a great measurement of my ability to hold fast what i believe in.
Stephen,
Why does mr. Hsiao think we disagree so much? In the last class discussion i agreed with you even tho i had to be on the rich side. I think ive agreed with you on almost every issue, including religion. oh well. mr Hsiao?(p.s. i swear this isnt an attack, dont check me).
Mr. Hsiao,
I was wondering if you can have a talk with " Dr. Feelgood " ? He seems to think it is appropriate to post updates on his sex life. I don't know if you were able to catch some of the comments he leaves but they don't belong here.

I am asking everyone that is reading this to write to there state represenitive, Govaner, Mayor, anything and request change. to gether, we can take a step closer to peace. the power of love is stronger than anything else. For the debate topics, how is it going to be decided as to who gets what?
If we end up being matched with more than one group on #1, and all of us have it as our first choice, who is going to stay and who is going to go? Will you be the judge of it, or leave it up to the groups to decide?
S
"I am asking everyone that is reading this to write to there state represenitive, Govaner, Mayor, anything and request change"dr feelgood
What kind of change? What is change? What is the power of love? Can the "power of love" really create peace? Or is it just another 1960's utopian hope? I honestly believe that writing letters to bureaucrats[sp] doesn't not work. To them our letters are mostly just paper and ink. I strongly believe that instead of wasting our time BEGGING for change through a letter we should go ahead and start acting. Spreading the word about the good and bad stuff our gov't does, encouraging people to vote, STAYING IN SCHOOL, giving our time by volunteering at shelters, churches. That's how we create change.
I respect your opinion Dr. Feelgood, but I strongly disagree with what you said, change must start within our communities, we cannot depend on politicians. We tranfrom our cities, we are the ones that generate change. Of course after we made change occur politicians take credit for that.
Thanks,
All, I need not go on again about what is appropriate or inappropriate as the case may be.
What might be seen as fun can be misinterpreted as slander on one's character.

I'm so proud.
After talking and convincing both my boyfriend who is 20 and my step dad, they have both decided and have registered to vote.
Back in 2004, I remember people getting excited about the 2 Presidential candidates. I heard ads, people arguing against each other, signs all over the place attacking the other candidate. I have never liked politics because I thought it raised more arguments than discussions.
4 years later, after being in a US history class, economics class, government class, and being surrounded by people my age talking about politics, it totally changed my perspective on voting and just politics in general. I learned that: It is up to the person to get in an argument about politics; if that person chooses not to, they don't have to.
Anyways, the fact still remains that I can't vote. In the high school classes I was taking, it really made me feel guilty to know all these things and still not be able to vote. I felt even worse when I thought that I could become a US citizen at that point and be able to vote. I'm too stubborn and afraid to let go of my citizenship in Japan, because for some reason, I keep thinking that that's the last thing that remains of my hometown, my home country. I think it's selfish of me, but I feel like I'm betraying my family, that if I become a citizen here, it's as if I'm just visiting and not going back to or coming home.
I decided to do the second best thing, to maybe share my knowledge so that other people could put in their vote. Although I can't put in my 1, I have convinced perhaps 3 others to.
I'm hoping that this election will turn out for the best.
:]
Zack,
Dr. Feelgood,
There have been many complaints about your posts in its material.
I have tried to be as cordial as I can be, but you must be careful what you say.
What you believe to be doing in good fun can be misconstrued as something quite different than what is actually being seen.
Does that make sense?
We will talk about it more in class.
Thank you for the blogosphere "regulators."

I left class today with a huge headache that still lingers. I was truly crying inside. Why is writing so difficult for me? My husband cannot stand to see me anxious and frustrated over the class. He advised me to quit if it continues to disrupt me. I know that he suggests this because he wants to let me know that he wont ever be disappointed in me. I want to pass the class, but it is a difficult subject. I communicate with others everyday, why does writing leave me blank?
Alonso,
Look to re-outlining your paper.
Look to the previous posts thereabouts.
1) Re-outline your paper
2) Read Jo Goodwin Parker's _What is Poverty_
Change is good if you are heading in the forward direction.
For the majority of the posts,
I am glad that, they, these posts are showing reflection and necessary work that needs to bring about change:
Change in writing, reading, and thinking. . .
I am encouraged it is for the better.
Someone said before, "They never said that it was going to be easy. Did they kid?"
I do not remember the response to the query or which movie I saw that from, but
I carry that around in my head and think upon it time to time. I always do that and it brings a smile to my face.
Because really life is not easy, and I am not saying that I am the purveyor of life, but I, my job, is/am preparing you all for it.

Haven't been on in a while...Hmmm, what to talk about.
First of all, the midterm was not half-bad. The vocab, definitions, and fragments sections were pretty easy. I hope I did good on those. However, the run-ons were pretty difficult, well for me that is. I thought I had them down, but I went blank on the test. As for the long-answer part, that was a whole different story. Well actually, the only reason I had a harsh time writing or simply getting my thoughts down, was because of the timing. I can pretty much say I was rushing it. For that, I hope Mr. H does not grade us too hard on them=]
Now, as for the Questions and Answers homework, I did it thinking I had done it correctly. I happened to see Mr. H's post on the format and what kind of questions he wants..and I was like "whoaaa..mine is nothing like he wants it". They're totally different questions. I guess I will have to redo it..bummer=[
Another thing...I am quite nervous about the debates we will be having. I am not used to talking in front of an audience, specially not debating, nor speaking my mind. I am quite shy. I am glad that Marisela chose me, she is a really cool and chill person, as well as our other team member, Gerardo, I believe. I hope I do well and I hope I don't let my group members down.

There's a man goin' 'round takin' names. An' he decides who to free and who to blame. Everybody won't be treated all the same. There'll be a golden ladder reaching down. When the man comes around.
The hairs on your arm will stand up. At the terror in each sip and in each sup. For you partake of that last offered cup, Or disappear into the potter's ground. When the man comes around.
Hear the trumpets, hear the pipers. One hundred million angels singin'. Multitudes are marching to the big kettle drum. Voices callin', voices cryin'. Some are born an' some are dyin'. It's Alpha's and Omega's Kingdom come.
And the whirlwind is in the thorn tree. The virgins are all trimming their wicks. The whirlwind is in the thorn tree. It's hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
Till Armageddon, no Shalam, no Shalom. Then the father hen will call his chickens home. The wise men will bow down before the throne. And at his feet they'll cast their golden crown. When the man comes around.
Whoever is unjust, let him be unjust still. Whoever is righteous, let him be righteous still. Whoever is filthy, let him be filthy still. Listen to the words long written down, When the man comes around.
Hear the trumpets, hear the pipers. One hundred million angels singin'. Multitudes are marchin' to the big kettle drum.
In measured hundredweight and penny pound. When the man comes around.
And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts, And I looked and behold: a pale horse. And his name, that sat on him, was Death. And Hell followed with him.
A very deep song means a lot/ what side will you be on when the man comes around

Yue,
I went to japan a couple years back for a month and a half. Wish i couldve stayed indefinitely. I wish it were easier to become a citizen THERE. which brings me to a point i had about politics, since its the season.
To Ere'body:
We cant equate ourselves with Europe or the rest of the modern world. Because the fact remains: we are not those countries. We have our own set of problems, our own demographics, and our own hang-ups. What works in another country has very little bearing here, because you change the variables. Take Japan for example. It has rediculously strict immiigration laws, and hence, eliminates a lot of problems america faces. not saying all immigration is bad, ill be the first to say some immigration is good. but i think the example is clear.
Monster:
To disagree with what you said to feelgood. I believe he has a point. Politicians and bigwigs are not held responsible enough, especially on the local level. How many of us know how our respective congresspeople voted in the last session? what if we all started writing to them? a tricle of paper is easy to shred, but its hard to ignore a truckload of constituents' voices. Still, i agree, change should come from within, and radiate outward. But let it radiate from both battlefields, from your seat and theirs.
Not all change is good. when you roll a 3, and pick it back up, you can roll a 6, but also a 1.
Dr Feelgood, Monster, and Brandon:
I beleive that we place too much blame and give too much credit to the government.
You all have valid points in making change. It is not a waste of time to write to our Congressman and ask for change. However, we often ask for help, and somehow it transforms into laws. For example, in the 60’s the government decided that it would subsidize farmers who grew certain crops. In other words, the government will give farmers money on top of what they made selling their crops. It was a law that was passed to help farmers. The result was that farmers grew only those crops in order to get help from the government. In turn, the price of produce went up as a result of supply and demand. In 1999, New Zealand, who had the same law, repealed the law. Farmers protested and rioted. They said that the government was trying to make them poor and didn’t care about them. Surprisingly, the farming industry in New Zealand did not go bankrupt. In fact, it ended up flourishing and the farmers now being able to farm anything that they wanted, made a better living.
The government played a part in the current financial problems. However, they are not the only blame. People should know better than buy a house that they knew they could not afford. What did all these people think would happen? The fact is that many people bought a home with the expectations that the value of their property would go up. Others bought a house knowing that the monthly payment was the same if not more than their monthly income. Sure the government reduced regulations. However, it was up to each one of us to make the right decision on whether the loan made sense for us. A lot of people made the wrong decision.
The government cannot and should not fix all of our problems. Everyone of us must be held responsible for helping ourselves. The Government should take care of military and constitutional issues. The fixing of our own lives should be left to us.

I'm confused so GW fellow classmates all we have to do is the topic outline paper. Write a story summary, analysis/reflection paragraph, and what we have done since the story?
For some werid reason I thought there was more to do...
Kayla and all,
There is more to do.
Just wait.
I will explain in more detail in class tomorrow.
However, the outline page (both sides: sentence and topic are due tomorrow.
Thank you Mr. Hsiao!

Brandon:
It's awesome over there, isn't it? But I know it's definitely difficult to live there, too. Quality of things are better, but they are more expensive. I mean like you said, Japan doesn't have to deal with problems like immigration, but there are prices to pay for that. There are a lot more regulations over there than over here, that's for sure.
---------------------
I'd have to agree with Brandon. I mean, we can't compare ourselves with other countries because we definitely have a unique constitution and government structure. A lot of different countries have eliminated having to deal with certain things by not allowing them in the first place. I think that a lot of freedom is difficult to deal with because one's freedom to do something may clash with the others (ex: racism on personal level).
I also agree with Brandon and Orlando. Often times we see the big picture, the big problems and think that it's bigger than us, so the government must be responsible, when, really, it was the pile-up of irresponsibilities on our part that made the problem huge. I think the best way to fix those problems, though, is to understand that, be responsible this time around, and do what is necessary to fix it. The government is (supposed to be) here to provide help to the people, meaning we have responsibilities, too.
Kayla:
We also have to read _What is Proverty_
Orlando and Brandon,
Good sides to both sides of the same coin.
I will not expand because I am not here to pick sides, but good work on both ends.
Both sides of the issue and see how each developed it.
Brandon did so juxtapositionally, and Orlando did so in-depthfully.
Good
Yue,
Kudos to you being the intercessor for Orlando and Brandon as well:
See how you took both their strings of thought and developed them even further.

Wise men say only fools rush in
but I can't help falling in love with you
Shall I stay
would it be a sin
If I can't help falling in love with you

Darling so it goes
some things are meant to be
take my hand, take my whole life too

New Age Humans are Cattle
We are america's project.
We are told by T.V.'s sexual activity to populate, thus increase our numbers.
We are incuraged to increase our numbers, we let ourselves be manipulated.
Only the few, thats are mentaly strong will truly decide who they become.
The rest who are uneducated, will go to war. Sadly, most of them will die.
[POPULATION CONTROL]
The ones who did not attend war, are the educated. Thus, they live on.
To re-populate our country, cycle begins all over. History repeats itself.
So as you can see, America wants to keep the ones who decide to be intellegent.
And the ones who decide to live an uneducated life, will die fighting. Or desease,etc..variation.
We are the generation that truly gets to decide who he/she will be for the rest of their lives. This is new stuff ppl, lets make it count and be somebody.
That is the plus side of the project, we decide our fate.
[EXISTENTIALISM]
I know its hard. Living in a world that has become so materialized.
Nonetheless, a world that is controlled Subconciously and Chemically by T.V.
and medicine>variation>
So people, dont live life for T.V.
Live it for YOUrself.
and be carefull out there.
OK i just checked up on the blog again and wanted to check and see updates in the playful conversation Brandon and i were having. I'm sorry Mr Hsiao if what i said was offensive. i honestly don't remember much of what i said but i don't exactly understand why it was deleted. i know i am asking for it when i say that but will you please email me and let me know why it was an upsetting comment. i don't like to see differences between myself and someone i respect so much. you have been a great role model for me Mr. Hsiao. again i'm sorry for the inappropriate comment though. i have never been great with authority, most of my teachers in the past hate me, and bosses for that matter, but i am working on that because it affects most aspects of my life. will you please email me and give me some honest pointers? don't hold back with your critiques please.
Poverty- it includes illness, dirt, silent, staying up all night, asking for help, remembering, black future, dream, and swallow your pride. Jo Goodwin Parker has brought up good points about Poverty. as I read through this article, i was disgusted and also felt sorry for people who were unfortunate. What could we do to make a better living for every individuals need. If everyone of us could make a different for our living, then why don't we try to make a different for others. Equality is happiness; therefore, we shall do something for people out there that needs help. Living in American with the earned seventy-eight dollars a month would not do much. People out there do not deserve to be in such a situation. Americans can make a different: a penny does matter!
DEBATES:
There could be a lot of topic we could debate about, for example, gay marriage, high teen pregnancy, abortion, politics, taxing between poor and rich, etc.
My group seems to be very intersting in debating between teen pregnancy and older-age pregnancy. From my point of view, debating either one between cons and pros, everyone of us have our own answers. we all have our own point of view either female should get pregnant in the early age or mid 40s. This topic could also involve with economy, male's response, decision making, etc. Most of these reason could go against toward teen pregnancy. regardloess, i cons teen pregnancy.

Im so excited about this weekends feild trip...seriously i mean i cant wait. I missed last class but Ive been wondering what happend, and what you guys discussed but yea ill be there today. I think classes like this are so important because i think we have all learned alot about ourselves in this littel bit of time. Also i want to say that i am soooo tired of peole trying to push their opinoins on a certain prop 8 onto me...i believe we should vote our consious and no one elses. I feel that people should look at the facts and go with thier gut. Thats the whole piont of voting...allowing your voice to be heard right....one wouldnt try to change another's vote so why would one try to change one's vote?? think about it.

but yeah can wait for the debate. Never done one be for so I can wait, I know it going to be fun and interesting.
And one more thing, I have a problem being in front of people as you guys saw last time in class. I get really nervous, shy, red, and some time I could even pass out…… No joke. So it going to be really hard for me but I will try my best.

HE LOOKED DOWN IN TO HER BROWN EYES AND SAID "SAY A PRAYER FOR ME"
SHE THREW HER ARMS AROUND HIM, WHISPERED "GOD WILL KEEP US FREE"
THEY COULD HEAR THAT RIDERS COMMING HE SAID "THIS IS MY LAST FIGHT,
IF THEY TAKE ME BACK TO TEXAS THEY WONT TAKE ME BACK ALIVE"
THERE WERE 7 SPANISH ANGELS AT THE ALTAR OF THE SUN
THEY WERE PRAYING FOR THE LOVERS IN THE VALLEY OF THE GUN
WHEN THE BATTLE STOPPED AND THE SMOKE CLEARED THERE WAS THUNDER FROM THE THRONE
AND 7 SPANISH ANGELS TOOK ANOTHER ANGEL HOME
SHE REACHED DOWN AND PICKED THE GUN UP THAT LAY SMOKING IN HIS HANDS
AND SHE SAID "FATHER PLEASE FORGIVE ME, I CAN'T MAKE IT WITH OUT MY MAN"
AND SHE KNEW THE GUN WAS EMPTY AND SHE KNEW SHE COULDNT WIN
BUT HER FINAL PRAYER WAS ANSWERED WHEN THE RIFLES FIRED AGAIN
THERE WERE 7 SPANISH ANGELS AT THE ALTAR OF THE SUN

Hey Mr.H
What I am understanding with this outline is that its basically same topic different essay.
Ya want us to make it more of an essay format than just a story, right?
It was a bit hard getting all the details in order. Once you go back and re-read the essay ya wonder where are my details? What is my topic sentence? Its harder then it looks.
Why must you torture us with this? =)
Must admit I'm getting tired of seeing and correcting my essay. I guess your strategy is working. You are most definitely molding our brain here....

Hey everyone!
OMG i wanna debate!! i was in a law enforcement class in high school. it was so much fun. i have always wanted to be a lawyer, but i dont think im cut out for it. i love debating, seeing different points and winning my case! whoo hoo lets do this.
Anyway. My life is kinda on the flipside right now. i got 2 tickets. (about a month or something ago) and one was for running a yellow light, and the cop said it was red. and the other was for speeding, when i was only going 75. so my first one was due yesterday and i didnt have the money. i still dont. i dont get paid til halloween. my parents dont want to help me pay for it, because it was my mistake and i should be responsible (which is understandable) so hopefully i get enough by tomorrow. so life isnt looking too fresh, but im still happy. it happens ya know? one hit aint nothing but a thing.

ARACELI:
Just pull out the paper that says Topic Outline, is the page before the 3rd yellow paper.
I am glad I am not the only one that's confused. Hehe
I am glad everyone is asking the same question:
The Revised Paper will be due on Monday or Tuesday.
What you need to bring me is the outline of those 3 paragraphs of the New/Improved/Revised Paper 1.
Does that make sense?
The reason I only talked about the BP 1 Story Summary
BP 2 Reflection/Analysis
BP 3 What happened since the event (Really just more in-depth reflecting and analyzing)
is because this is the meat and potatoes of it all.
Once you have the *Meat* of it then it will be quite easy to add an introduction--most importantly--the thesis and map sentence--and a conclusion to boot.
Does that make sense?
Topic and Sentence Outline of newly revised paper 1 due today or tomorrow depending on what class I have.
Revised paper in its entirety a whole 4 pages (English 100) or a whole 3 pages (English 52 or 60).
Each English class will have to use quotes as well.
I will explain that during class.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you Kayla, Isaias, Jenny, and others who had questions.
Anymore. . .
Remember if you do not have the Questions/ Answers or Topic/Sentence Outline and your first revised paper altogether paper clipped or stapled together next week, than I will mark off a whole letter grade.
If you do not follow the format of it all, organization or otherwise, I will write "same grade" no matter the amount of effort.

the 3 body paragraphs i mean.
just wanted to say thanks Mr.Hsaio for the little reality check you gave the class. really kind of opened my eyes not to be lazy and that you assign things for a reason not just because u feel like it.
do we have to do the revise body on both the sentence outline and the topic outline. sorry i get confused really easy
corona,
I'm not Mr. Hsiao but since he's been answering a lot of questions that are very similar,I think I can answer your question before he has to:
you must do both the topic outline and the sentence outline!
For the topic outline, where it says example, make sure you have 3 different quotes from 3 different stories that we've read in class!
One of them could be from outsie readings though. So I guess 2 different quotes from 2 different stories!!
I hope that helps.
Jovana,
You only need to do the outline, the actual paragraphs don't need to be done.

Why I didn't go to class,
Last night whole waiting for mr. H, someone said to me "mc chris is at Chain Reaction tonight." And me being a fan of undergroup rap and hip hop did not hesitate to go, and here is why,
The style of every artist is unique. While at this show I witnessed people my age up on stage deliver their message, a message of peace of change. Their well rhymed phrases became pure poetry, worthy of a pulitzer. It felt so good to see transformation in young people, like myself!
I know it was wrong, but I did learn how beautiful english is. Without it we wouldn't have our favorite songs, we wouldn't have poetry, we wouldn't have books! Last nights show proved to me that english, when used correctly, is one of the most poetic languages. The way the artitst rhymed words, it was nothing short of amazing. At one point one artist started rapping a cappella abouta random person in the audience. Now how could they do this? BY READING, they read, learned new words, and put them to practice,

This may not sound cool to anyone on here. I wanted to get 1968 when I got on here today. I got it!!! It's the year I was born, just thought I would throw that out there.
First of all I would like to say that I am glad I signed up for The trip to Kidworks. I really enjoyed and learned a numerous amount of things during the period of a couple of hours. The funny thing is that i learned it over a simple game, that in the beggining it didnt make much sense, but at towards the end I learned much!It just got me thinking...hmm.. if i learned so much in just so little time, I imagine how much help and learning the kids receive during the whole week. I liked the fact that they not only focus on the education, but also in how to get to know and learn about each other[respect one another].
One of the best things tha i like about the experience was that i got to spend the day with my classmates and get to know them more. I learned many things about them.I even discoverd that one of my classmates lives in my city [COMPTON] only about 4 blocks away :) ...crazy huh??

How did I forget about the food,
I'm ecuadorian and our food is diff than mexican food, so to me eating mexican food is like eating chinese food haha is something you eat every now and then lol,
AND
We don't have tortillas,
I know I know crazy, but not every brown person eats tortillas, even though they're good, lol
I think the food tasted amazing becausewe were all in such a friendly ebvironment, and that's always a plus!

I have currently been doing research on my debate topic, which is taxing the poor. I've recently found out that a way of getting taxes on the poor is by putting a tax on alochol, tabacco, and also the lottery. I've also recently found out that 16 million poverty level people sign up for an income tax return, yet don't pay taxes! Did you know that people around the poverty level, or in the poverty level pay 1,000+ dollars on cigarettes each year?!? (Facts according to 2003) The numbers I have found were astonishing! I'm not going to share them because I don't want to opposite team to know. :)
I hope everyone has had an amazing day.

To elaborate on my view of change:
I agree, the world does indeed need change. But not all change is for the better. i dont like how many obama supporters chant "we need change!" we do need change but i disagree with Senator obamas change. Distribution of wealth is a fancy way of stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. Robin hood? good guy, but still a criminal. We should instead focus on laws that keep people from screwing everyone OUT of their wealth. afterall, isnt taht how the 'rich' get rich anyway? considering they are legally wealthy, what have they done wrong? absolutely nothing legally. they got rich out of other peoples expense. Morally wrong yes, but we are given a freedom to be immoral. Its hard work raping peoples wallets. Just ask 'em.
But then arent we prejudizing the wealthy in general? the common held misconception is that all wealthy people are horrible snobby aristocrats. Lets use our heads. we know that just isnt fair to assume right?
That poverty story really was insightful. We cant leave people behind like that. but why force only the rich to bear the burden? isnt it ALL of our responsibility?
i want the other side to this, feedback?
Sammy!!!!!!!!!!!
i got my ticket for SAW 5!!! give me a call so we could all meet met up!..
The real word Sucks!
Last week my boss gave me a project to work on and told me that I had till next Thursday to present. The President of the company came by today, and had a few questions about the operation. The answers for his questions were to come from my project. Being that he began to ask questions, and he is only town till Friday, I was told that now had to present Friday. By no means am I ready to run a test and present my findings on Friday. However, my boss is being pushed to have the questioned answered and has asked that I be ready by Friday.
I have to get in front of my Boss, my Boss’s Boss, his Boss, the Vice President of the company, and others, and present my findings on a test which I have to set up and run. Talk about a fear of public speaking. These are the people who will undoubtedly be judging the outcome as well as my ability to present the information. I have to do a good job. These are the people that will not only decide my raise, but also my future path with the company.
You guys thought a pop quiz was tough. No offense Mr H. but this is much more stressful.
To all my classmates:
Hone your public speaking skills in class, because you will never know when you may have to get up in front of people and be judged on how you speak.
Orlando,
Absolutely
Thank you for contributing to the conversation.
Wishing you the best. . .
Kayla,
Very good findings,
You are always ahead of the curve.
Anybody else with debate research?

Sorry so late
but
Congrats on your baby girl
When is she due?
And do you have a name in mind yet?
Brandon,
You raise a great deal of good questions.
When you ask for feedback, are you asking in regards to stereotyping all rich and what exactly are you discussing in terms of the poor and how we help out as a community of human beings?
You raise some very interesting points with regards to Obama, but you have to remember that no matter who will be in the authority position that he will have to make concessions to those factions that got him there in the first place.
No one person is infallible and no one entity can truly be idealistic. These are just thoughts to think about--points of departure.
Let us not get too political here. Good academic discussion as it were/is/will be. . .
McCain has foibles as well as do we all. Moreover, McCain follows his own self interest as well as Obama--they have to in order to get themselves elected or the nominations in the first place. The main question becomes what they do after they get elected
--follow their integrity or follow the lobbyists' interests.
That is the mark of a great president.
No matter the case, if the next president will be able to salvage the mess W. Bush (and that is simplifying it considerably) left us with--whether or not he aligns the the parties or bends them against/for him and his domestic agenda--he will work down the debt and build back the economy, and he will be marked as a good president.
However, if he does things that are considered unpopular and against party lines, yet good for the nation as a whole, the mark of a Great President is just that.
We will see how all this unravels.
Flip Side--
One could even say that those interests may steal away either potential president's soul because money is. . .
I will let you fill in the blank.
Temptation resides but it is the seat of the soul that makes the choice of what to do next. . .
Does that make sense?
****This is directed towards everybody and not just Brandon (Brandon, do not take it as a rub).
I am just extending the conversation--you may do so as well.
Thank you for being respectful in most of your post with regards to Obama.
Juxtaposition:
As well as I could disagree and bring up McCain in terms of what he does and does not do as the case may be, for see he does some acts that considered questionable--Palin as one--supporting W. when in the past he was a naysayer--and I will stop at that--but I believe at the heart of it you are asking why?
Good questions,
Why target the rich?
Why target monies of everyone whereas the government should raise the necessary monies in order to help those less fortunate already.
That is, it is the gist of what you are saying, right?
Melissa,
Welcome back. . .
The blogosphere and even Mr. H misses you.
Keep up the MVP work.
