Beginning and Freshman Composition

Blogging in the Blogosphere
English 52, 60, 100

FORMAT:
When you blog, in the Title, write your first and last name as you would as if you are turning in a paper to me. Then you do not have to write my name because I know you are in my class. Write what English class you are in whether it is English 52, 60, 100 and what College.

For example, one would write:

Yue Hayes
English 52
Cerritos College
Post #1

Homelessness
Font size
In addition, for the title, pick the topic of discussion, grammar/organization, content, current events, pop culture or literature as a TITLE that we have discussed in class. Write the posts like this: write #1 Post or #2 Post or Post #50, so I can easily keep track of them and how many you write.

Of course, you are welcome to write more than several posts, and in doing so is another form of participation and does count in the participation grade. Perhaps, in class, you may not participate all that much but in the realm of the blogosphere, you can from the comfort of your own home,
  • reflect on the day's class discussion or offer up an insight that you found particularly interesting, etc., etc.

  • How does it change the way you think or thought before on the subject?

  • What actions might you take in the future? Anything is open to interpretation.

Of course, I need not go on and on about being respectful towards your peers' opinions and beliefs. If you disagree with another student's views be discreet about it: Do not say so and so is completely wrong because of this and that. Instead, say, I disagree with so and so and here are the reasons why I do. Go after their evidence and support and do not, I repeat do not attack someone else personally. This is supposed to be a forum for everyone to share their ideas and views.

*I will enforce the blogosphere by either deleting your hard work, making an example out of you here in the realm of the blogosphere or in class* . . .

Our group, the Minorities, are working hard to win the debate. The group met up yesterday and worked heavily on our research. we believe, actually, we know that our group is going to win. We are to dominate. Hahahaha. Our arguement is to strong and we have the arsenals to back it up. Plus we have Amador, the raging bull, ready to tear a new one to our challenger. All of us are ready for Monday. Bring it on.

Mr. Hsiao,
is the source unreliable if the website we got it from is promoting one side of the argument?
For example, I have on my side a lot of statistics from the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy. While the numbers are actually from different sources, I'm not sure that the message they are promoting will prevent it from being a reliable source.

Thank you!

Yesterday, I met up with my debate team, the Minorities, at the Cerritos library. I feel very confident that we will own the opposing team, the Go-Getters, or should I say, the No-Getters! hahaha. Even though I came late to our meeting, I could tell that my team wasn't kidding around. They were able to accumulate many facts and statistics from just a few books. I was mostly focused on the other teams weak points because we already have our side covered from all angles.

Jovana,

Good questions...hope these answers can stir up some madness.

1. Mexican hertitage has very strong ties to nationalism. Even if they live in the US comming from Mexico. Maybe by conforming to the many of customs we have here they feel it dissassociates them from the roots of their culture. America is open to so many it likes to spread unity (sometimes its hard to believe that, but I think this to be true.) For us born here, we almost can accept any culture...its been well exposed to us. (Please note I'm talking as myself for acceptance...others may not accept people/culture as I do). Holloween, Christmas, Thanks Giving, Kwanza, Chinese New Year ah the list is huge. Here in america we pretty much have our hand on all the cards. Clubs, Spades, Hearts and Diamonds...Black and Red...For those who like to keep strong tradition, opening up to others isn't their thing and can be extreamly difficult. For us here, we have been raised with many ethnic traditions so its now a daily routine. At least thats what I think. What card are you?... :)

2. Ahh the inevitable "speed trap". I have been a victim of this sly undercover predator... I do not really have a reason for why. Rather I have a solution. Make a sign that says to cross with caution. Possibly make it look very festive not to have the LEO's think you are detering them (which may cause them to take it down) but rather looking out for the well being of children/families.

Hope this helps!

Our group, The Minorities, met at school yesterdayand found a lot of information about our debate issue. We got online help, and we got information off of books. We are confident that we are going to win. We found so much information on our topic that we did not leave the library until after 9pm. I just hated the reason that I have to be the first of our group to talk, but with Amador in our group, they do not stand a chance.

I agree with what your saying. i guess i got a little offended at what has been going on with the Mexican culture, but you managed to help me understand. Thank you! =] and im pretty sure i got offended because i am much like you. i am welcoming of any culture, any color, any sex, anything pretty much. i dont judge or anything so perhaps thats why i took it to heart when i heard of that. but thank you once again. =]

and for the 2nd answer. thats not a bad idea at all. knowing me i will make a sign and put it up there. if might offend some cops and get them enraged, but hey i rather have people see the sign and be more cautious than get pulled over for not noticing it was a crossing for pedestrians.

You Rock Nizzle. thanks a bunch.

Salvador:

Tonight im going to Hard Fest by UCLA. i probably wont make it to Isaias party thing. (bummer) but my friend bought me the ticket and i cant bail now. if it cost like 5 bucks then yeah but it wsa $120 so its a must! =] You have fun tonight ok. please please please be safe sweetie! && CHAOO talini is really pretty!! ;) good pick. lol.

Kayla:

That was such a cute idea! im sure you'll rock the hockey look!

I have a theory I came up years ago while in the rain forest(I got to spend a week with a tribe).
On the final night the tribe, called the Shuar tribe performed a dance in which all males adornated their bodies with hides and paint. They danced and sang war songs. Later I asked why the boar hides , I wondered why they liked to pretend they were animals. A friend explained that the tribe performed this dance to honor the animals that provided food for the tribe.
This shocked me, respect for an animal? As years went by I realized how deep this was,

This tribe had been performing this dance for centuries. They are servants of pacha mama(mother earth) they are everything, they are the plants, the air, the water the animals. They did not see themselves on top of the food chain, they respected every living thing, because they knew weall share a same bond. They did not occult anything. They wanted to be servants of pacha mama, and that's what they have become, they know that we humans, as mighty as we think we are, we are weak and lets face it, we can easily be erradicated.

I believe that yes it is a double negative, but at the same time it is amazing to see "dressing up" as an animal can also carry a deeper meaning

I am not sure if I'm making sense but oh well, even if only one person reads this and understands it, then my job will be done:]

Nick,

Let me just say how brave you are giving our your "digits."

Back to you, Yue,

Yes, you might want to consider another source because one that does not have an opposing view may be just dressed up in name and sources that make it look credible: A responsible journalist or article will present both sides of the argument, so that it is well balanced.

Totally agree, we are/can be our own demise. Animals don't pretend to be something they are not. Animals don't hate yet they have instinct to stay alive. They seem to cooperate in this world better then we do. A complete life cycle. Seems like everything is backwards sometimes; we should be the caged animals whom are on display at the zoo...

Good Morning to anybody that is awake. Anyways, my group's research is going pretty good and we are finding more info about both sides. It takes awhile to find the right info, because we keep on typing all these different things to find it. On thursday my group and I met up at the school and did a lot of research, but still need more. We also discussed our main points out and the other teams main points, so we can be on the same page. Wedsday was so helpful meeting the team we are going against, to discuss what is going to happen next week. After thursday every individual in my group needs to research more. I have beeen researching on the pin points our group leader wants. I am sooo glad that each of us in my group are taking a part in the research. Thats a team!!! I love my group!!! I am still taking it step by step with the search of my groups research and will not stop until we are face to face with the other team. I am soo excited for this debate and it really helped out meeting with my group. I really recommed it.

My research has been going well. I do not want to let too much out due to Amador being my oponet. You have to watch people like him. J/K :) I never really noticed how many other native languages there were out in our society. I have also learned that so many have died down, and became nothing. I wouldn't know what to do if i had lost my heritage. My heritage is who I am on the inside. I believe everyone should know where they come from. Behind every person is a culture with a story

Halloween:

My Halloween was awesome! i got to give out candy with my family to all the cute little kids, i did my dad's make-up (he was letherface) and i emjoyed it. At 8 i left to my friend's house to go to Hard Fest, and we started driving over there and we forgot the tckets so we had to go back!!! =[ anyway, we got back on the freeway and we where on our way!!

we get to the place and we pay 20 bucks to get in. we drive around looking for parking and when we find one it's on the thrid florr and its a very tight space! luckily we had my car so it barely fit. but wait, my friends and i couldnt get out of the dors because the cars were really close. so i, being the smallest, had to jump out of the window and open the trunk so they can get out. (ADVENTURE??? YESS!!!)

My outfit is very "out there" so i wore a sweater so i dont feel as exposed. we arrived around 9:30pm. we walk down stairs and be realize that we dont have the tickets ... bummer. we send the boys up to go get them and we'll be in line. as we walk to the end of the block, we decide to ask the security guards where we go. he sent us to the front of the line and told us that we go straight then make a right. ok we do as the man says and on our way back up to the front, we see the boys and we gather up and start walking. we get to the line and we are stuck there with a bunch of people pushing and shoving.

im not the type of person that gets pushed in a line and says nothing. so a girl begins shoving me, and i coul not breath because i was the smallest person and i was schushed by a bunch of tall people. so i could not breath and this girl is pushing me and i turn and give her "THE LOOK" she doesnt say anything. so i turn back around and start talking to larry and telling him that i couldnt breath. so i guess this girl thought it was funny that i was sccushed so she pushes me again. i turn around, look at her and say, "you got a problem? you see i cant move and here you are pushing me. whats your problem?" she starts laughing and says, "im not pushing." i laugh back and im like, 'listen b**** if you want to push me, push me and even though im small, ill still beat your ass right here or wherever you want." her friends told her to stop and she turned around. i looked at larry and said, "can you beieve this h**?" so anyway,

we start walking a little bit at a time and it starts to smell very sour and strong. i look over and there is this tall blonde as rainbow bright, and she smelled like BO really really realy bad!! theres nothing we can do so we stand there and try to breath fresh air. we finally get in but we lost lauren and jeff. so we get in and we are standing there waiting for them. we look at the time and its 11pn. where did the time go right?

so finally they come in and we start headng toward the dance floor. we start dancing and looking at all the different costumes. girls where there in a thong with leaves and a bra with leaves, guess they where eve. then there where really cool skinny guys in an all green neon jumpsuit and they looked awesome! there where so many different costumes. i loved it very much. i started sweating like a dog and my costume was drenched. since i was already half naked i decided to wear just my shorts, chinese brazer and boots. the whole night went awesome and the performers where too down. i didnt want to leave. i felt so at place. the party wasnt over til 5 but we left at 3 because my lauren had to be home by 4. =[

so in conclusion, my halloween has been the best halloween i have ever had!! and theres going to be another one that im already saying up to go to! it will be awesome!!! i cannot wait.

i hope everyone's halloween was great. if not, then im sorry. =[

whoo hoo

dance music is my life, dance music you're my wife!!!

Hello to everyone hope every one got some good candy.

But haven’t the tax cuts put more of the burden on the backs of the middle class and the poor?

No. I examined the Treasury Department analysis of how much the rich would have paid without the Bush tax cuts and how much they actually did pay. The rich are now paying more than they would have paid, not less, after the Bush investment tax cuts. For example, the Treasury’s estimate was that the top 1 percent of earners would pay 31 percent of taxes if the Bush cuts did not go into effect; with the cuts, they actually paid 37 percent. Similarly, the share of the top 10 percent of earners was estimated at 63 percent without the cuts; they actually paid 68 percent.

One interesting fact I came across
looking for material on Institutionalization was in regards to first-time offenders.

First-time offenders are generally given a veritable "slap on the hand" when caught and charged with committing a crime. If their offense is relatively minor, they will have an easier time going through the system and receive a lesser punishment. If their offense is serious enough, they will be sentenced to prison. This practice is done to move the major crimes through the system, due to the lack of resources criminal justice agencies have.

First i would like to say HAPPY HALLOWEEN! This has been the most suspensful HALLOWEEN EVER!. because i was working that day and we did a HALLOWEEN COMPETION on who decorates their office better, and we won, so that made my day...

Teen pregnancy is a serious topic. In these days people are against teens having kids or should i say "kids having kids" because they think that they aren't ready to have one. Well that is somewhat true but there are teens that have the support from their families and friends. I've done a lot of research and there is not that much possitive statistics but i got some down. I cant wait for the debate this monday, im actually kind of nervous but ill get through it...

The department reported that only 18.6%, or 24, of the 129 men who completed the domestic violence program were rearrested in Los Angeles County, and that only 24.2%, or 26, of 107 other men who participated in the program but didn’t graduate were rearrested. By comparison, 37.1%, or 43, of 116 domestic violence inmates released from other county jails were rearrested, the department said.

*DEBATE*

Women over the age of 35 are more likely to have a pre existing health condition that began before the pregnancy. High blook pressure, diabetes, and kidney and heart problems can affect the pregnancy. For example, poorly controlled diabetes can contribute to birth defects and miscarriage, and poorly controlled high blood pressure can slow fetal growth.

Early teen pregnacy is the topic my group and I are fighting for.
It is a bit difficult but im sure we will do good. I've done a lot of reserch about it but there is also many cites that are against teenage pregnacy. There is also many disadvantages for older pregnacy age 35 and older so that is good for us! Young teen pregnacy does have advantages and we will prove them in the debates!!
We'll see what happens on Wednesday!
Good luck to everyone =]

I have found some terrifyingly large statistic. 1 out of 28 adults in the US are in the criminal system in one form or another. this includes paroles and rehab systems. This still worries me. With the numbers so high it is obvious our current system of rehab is not working. We as a people can only guarantee the safety for our people by not allowing know criminals out on the street. This may seem a bit extreme, but do you want a criminal to live next door to you or your children? The only way to be truly safe is to remove criminals from the equation. Statistics prove that most criminals (70%in California) will commit a crime again. institutionalization is the best way to reduce crime rates.

our group has yet to come up wit a lot of actual statistics about middle age pregnancies other than the ones i've posted. we are still working on the outline. Why is it so much harder to write it than speak about it? LOl well i cant wait for the debate but also the relief to stop stressin about it.
i am confident about our standing in the debate yet iffy about our work on paper..so i guess we'll see tomorrow!!! :]

John Hsiao said...

Ariadne,

Everyone must have an outline specific to the role:

Stater-->Stater

Prover-->Prover

Attacker-->Attacker

Moderator-->Moderator

So, in a group of four, I will get four outlines.

However, in a group of 3, in which one will take on 2 roles--there is one outline turned in.

As a rule, though, for integration and maximum exposure, everyone should have each other's outlines.

Does that make sense?

Air-E said...

sorta...

i am the moderator..so i have to turn in an outline for myself right? as well as an outline depicting everyones position, right?

John Hsiao said...

The person who willingly takes on 2 roles will only turn in 1 outline because the burden of responsibility is too much.

Group of 4 = 4 outlines
4 people = 4 roles

Group of 3 = 3 outlines

Group of 2 = 2 outlines

Does that make sense?

Good question

John Hsiao said...

Ariadne,

You turn in one outline for Moderator.

Required.

The other outlines I should get from everyone else in your group.

However if you want to turn in extra material or outlines and such to me than yes I will accept them.

During my research I have learned so much about the risks towards pregnancy. The reasons why so many women wait to have children. My group has been helpful on how our research should be headed. At first it was a bit confusing, but I understood my role. So far I have found great examples and excellent resources, such as studies. I hope to learn more about the other topics for tomorrow's debates.

There are a lot of information about it on websites. I have been researching about gang life, and I am focusing the things what drives people in a gang life. I have found some stories or cases why they should have chosen a gang life. There is many reasons and stories. The same thing what I found is they had faced difficulties in their lives; poverty and lack of education. Some of them were solicited from their friends. Even though that was eventually their own decision, they could not decide without motivation. The things we need to mention is this community in the world drove them in a gang life. Now, they want to live their own free life without any rules of society, just do what needs to be done by instinct. They got lots of hate towards some people. well....... my position is con, and I am not sure if it is for con or pro. I am still trying to find positive things for gang life.

My team will have meeting tomorrow. After we put our issues together, we'll be strong.

I have little anxiety because it is my first time to debate. I have not learned about debate. I have never seen like this class and debate in Korea. I am sometimes embarrassed when I have something what I have never faced, but I am always get great experience, and my English is getting better through this class. Make up and new Quiz

During my research in finding out what would be better jail or Rehab, I have found that a lot of people favor Rehab and here is why. The people the favor rehab majority only do so because it would be cheaper such as taxes wise they would like every one to go to rehab for any crime that has been committed. They believe that rehab would and can fix any and all problems with society, its like saying rehab will fix a autistic kid its not going to happen people are borne with a sickness in there heads some are unfortunate enough to be raised in a society that all they know is drugs, stealing, raping, or killing. It’s a well known fact apparently only to those smart enough to see it that rehab requires one big thing and for most people they don’t realize it and that is free will the ability to want to do it not cause they have to. Because if they are going to rehab because they have to there just going to what I like to call it “fake the funk” do what they need to do and go right back out molesting little kids or doing drugs. Rehab is a place where you should go on your own freewill and want to do it. In all realistic reality u can’t cure a Pedi filer or a murderer. These are crimes that cannot be forgiven for in society, I mean you can forgive them as a person but that’s it you commit a crime you better be prepared to do the time. Jail a place known through out time as a deterrent a place you do not want to go a place if you commit a crime you would dread to go to. Back in those days you stole a piece of food you would get your hand chopped off, if you saw a married women naked and you were caught peeping your eyes were seared out, if you were caught screwing another mans wife your Twig and berries were lobbed off. Now a days we have a little more humane acts of punishment. The government has initiated a little thing called the 3 strikes. This law was placed in order to help people fix there error of there ways. Say if you are caught stealing, you wouldn’t get your hand chopped off oh no, you would get a slap on your wrist maybe a fine but more importantly you would get one strike. Caught a second time the punishment increases to deter you from committing another act against the law until finally you receive a 3rd strike which could be a long time in prison. Of course jail is a bad place its meant to be, every where else in the world jails are a horrid scary place I would never be caught dead in, as bad as our jails are I would love to go camping in ours rather then lets say N. Korea’s jails or a Chinese jail cell. At least in our jails we offer a convicted criminal who’s doing time for a crime he has committed the opportunity to receive a education there’s a library and even computers at some of the Jails, but there is only one problem as I stated up top a person has to be willing to want to change he cant be forced to change, that’s where you start getting those fakers that are “faking the funk” just doing what they need to do to get out quicker. I must admit the Jail system is not perfect Drugs are allowed in by corrupt officials and there are crimes committed inside the prison but again these crimes are committed by people who don’t want to change who think its “cool” to be inside the prison. The rehab could not help these people change if you tried to brainwash a gang member to give up his gang family think of the consequences of him leaving his gang family? They could come after him or his family now instead of 2 murders u have 5 maybe 6 not just adults but kids anything to prove the fact you cant leave the family. I Found a segment on drug users in jail there was a debate on whether or not druggies should go to jail for using? Some people said what ever you put inside you body is on you but if your caught selling it to minors or anything then yes go to jail. My final point is there some crimes you cant go to rehab for and are susceptible to the jail house for how ever long even a death sentence. The rehab is and has always been a place for the willing to go and seek refuge from the darkness that drugs hold over them not for sick perverted men or women or the murderous people out there. I will end with these two words FREE WILL u cant force me to do something I don’t want to do .

Wow. Astonishing numbers:
One in every SIX people in the United states depends on a government program. Can you believe that? That is about 44 million people.

So why is it fair that there are 44 million people on the government programs.. that don't pay taxes? Even if it is only 500 hundred dollars a year, it still helps.

Essentialism is a philosophy where everything can be broken down into an infinite loop of ideas and words. For example, one can only explain the word "swim" with more words. That person would than have to explain the words used to describe "swim" in an ongoing process of definitions. It is very confusing. Capitalism on the other hand is a free market system. Companies compete to be the best. This causes prices to lower for the consumer. Is it to good to be true?

After an intensive researching, I've made up for all the information I've found on that con-teen pregnancy site with a little bit more appropriate ones.
I've found that:
-->Teenage mothers are less likely to get education (graduate high school).
-->Teenage mothers are more likely to be unmarried during the pregnancy & after.
-->Since they will be single-moms, they will have to do either two things: work and leave the child somewhere else or don't work and suffer financial problems.
-->Children who are born to teen mothers are more likely to be malnourished.
-->Teen mothers usually will have another baby within the next 2 years (I know, I too want to say, "You just had one!!")
-->Boys who are born to teen mothers are more likely to end up in jail or have problems with alcohol/drugs, etc.
-->Girls who are born to teen mothers are more likely to become teen mothers themselves.
Growing up, children born to teenage mothers are more likely to experience abuse and neglect.
-->We, as taxpayers, pay from $7 billion to $9 billion annually to provide for these mothers
-->MOST mid-aged pregnancies are successful
-->Mid-aged pregnancies have some physical and psychological advantages.
-->Mature women have more positive perceptions of their bodies, so they are ready to look completely different.
-->Mature women have less fear of helplessness and loss of control, as well as great stamina & courage.

AHHHHH it's so tempting to just start the debate right here and respond to some of the other group's posts, but I must resist. By the way, Nick, Candice, Rachel and Danny, I am looking forward to tomorrow!! ...Well, technically later on today.. Oh, and it was nice seeing you at the bowling alley, Danny! Haha. Goooood times. THE HALLOWS EVE PARTY

Let me just start by congratulating myself and the 6 others that pulled of a great party. First party we ever threw and It was a complete success.

The idea for the party started back in Oct 7th. My friend Cesar approached me with the idea, to make a party in his house. I agreed with out hesitation. It took great effort and labor, for we where to make it the best party since mead evil times. We gathered more friends to clean out the garage, luckily for us, Cesar's father works in installing auto glass. The garage was filled with racks of windshields, tools, and window regulators;TONS!!!! We where to move all of it to the next garage to make room. It took us day and night of 2 weeks, but we did it. Now that the garage was clean of auto glass, Cesar's dad got to work on building a bar for the party. Yes a BAR for THE PARTY.

AS the morning of Halloween came, me and Cesar where on the move. We set up a tent in the front to cover up the huge drive way. Then we went to Home Depot to buy some wood, came back and built a stage for the DJ[Cesar has a lot of power tools]. Night was coming fast, i went to pick up the keg. There was a problem, no keg TAP! i called my friend Valentin, and he said he would take care of it. I brought the keg, as i arrived i was rushed by friends to help with the keg. Put it in ice behind the NICE new bar. As everyone finished the final touches [web, black lights, audio] I rushed to my house to get in character and pick up Araceli. I arrived at my apt. to find poison ivy inside, i quickly threw on my pants, BLACK Jacket, cut gloves, face paint, joker's henchman mask, and equiped my gun. Me and chely raced over to the party to find it complete full!!! It brought a smile to my face, since we where charging five dollars a head, selling liquor, mixed drinks, free beer of course. We went in and man it was the #$^&(*!!! I made my way to the bar, got some drinks, conversed, enjoy-bliss. Man i had fun freaking people out with my mask let alone my gun. I got even better when i became bar tender, i felt like a God to the ladies and envied by the men[cheli don't get mad you where there, you witnessed it]. At all times remaining in character, I was the psycho clown bank robber. Salvador was there too man! yea you can ask him if he had a good time hahahahahaha.
There was a bad side to it though, around one AM cops arrived. Someone got cut in the neck with a broken bottle, Cesar was handcuffed for asking the cop "whats the problem officer" BS!!
I do not know much on how the guy is doing, but cesar got released.
Mr. Hsiao the greatest part was when I drove home, i was making my way up the stairs with Araceli passed out in my arms. Then I get a phone call from Cesar telling me if i would like to go grab a bite, and split the money we made.!! We made 1500 for partying!! hahaha man it was a good friday.

PEACE
Salvador hope you got home safe.

I have learnt that in wall street therre is the theory of the invisible hand.that there is something guiding people to make the right decision.man has to not be greedy and help out his economy. But can man really do that? capitalism is all about letting man do what he wants with little interfierence from the government, but man needs restrictions. Man needs rules. The number of families receiving cash benefits from welfare has plummeted since the government imposed time limits on the payments a decade ago. But other programs for the poor, including Medicaid, food stamps and disability benefits, are bursting with new enrollees. INSTITUTIONALIZATION VS REHABILITATION

IN 2004,THERE WERE 165,000 CRIMINALS IN CALIFORNIA PRISONS.58,725 PAROLEES WERE SENT BACK TO PRISON, APPROXIMATELY 23,000- 35,000 COMMITTED NEW CRIMES ON PAROLE!

2/3 OF CALIFORNIA PAROLEES RETURN TO PRISON WITHING THREE YEARS OF THEIR RELEASE, THAT IS TWICE THE NATIONAL AVERAGE!!!!!!

SO WHY DO WE KEEP RELEASING THESE CRIMINALS INTO THE STREETS? THE STREETS WERE CHILDREN PLAY, WOMEN WALK IN, AND MEN WORK ON? IT IS DANGEROUS TO OUR COMMUNITIES. OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE GOING TO KEEP COMMITTING THEIR CRIMES, SO THEY SHOULD BE INSTITUTIONALIZE FOR LIFE!!!!!! THEY SHOULDNT GET SECOND CHANCES, WHY DO WE HAVE FAITH IN THEM, AND BELIEVE THEY CAN CHANGE???? THEY HAVE TOO BE F%$^&&# UP FROM THE HEAD TO BEGIN WITH TO COMMIT SUCH A CRIME IN THE FIRST PLACE. THIS IS WHY INSTITUTIONALIZATION WOULD BE PERFECT FOR CRIMINALS, MURDERERS, RAPIST,AND MOLESTORS.WE WOULDNT HAVE TO BE WORRYING ABOUT THEM COMMITTING THE SAME CRIME OVER AND OVER.THEY SHOULD ONLY GET ONE STRIKE!!!!! AND THERE ITS OVER FOR THEM..........

During my research of gang life, I found out it is the same as a family. Last weekend had a viewing, ironically enough, about the gang life in the streets of Compton. It showed the gangs thier and how they want change, to some extent. I even over looked my uncle who was a gangster but now changed due to some time in jail. He changed because he did not want his son to see his dad like that, behind bars and not being able to spend time with him.

I have found many a article to destroy my competition. I am however a benevolent person so I will release one of the quotes which will be used. A teacher named Webster stated: " A person cannot be profecient in a new language until they are profcient in thier native tounge." This means that parents that chose to teach children an alternative language than try to teach them english will struggle with it. Also if a child is not profecient in a native tounge there is no way they will succeed in english. There are advantages to be bi-lingual, but this is not bi-lingual it is broken english. So that being said, I cannot wait for these debates to start. I am going to kill.

I did find out that religion has one very bad side. it says that people who are religious{very religious} often feel a sense of abondonment{felling extremely depressed; feeeling that GOD is punishing them}. when this happens, people get depressed and often commit crimes or things of that character. hope he quiz is not that hard. almost forgot, good luck on the debates to anyone going today or in the future.

Some of the information I found on the topic of Institutionalization states that New York has a recidivism rate of 30.7 percent, Texas being the second largest state has a rate of 45.7 perecent of recidivism, and California has the highest rate of recidivism with 54.4 percent. This shows that most criminals tend to relapse. As a result it affects our public safety, state budget, and society.

JUST A LIL QUOTE THAT I LOVE. THOUGHT I'D SHaRE IT WITH THE CLASS. PLUS IT RELATES TO "SEPARATION-ENCOUNTER-RETURN". THOSE WHO STRUGGLE MORE ARE CLOSER TO BEING HEROS THAN AYNONE ELSE. ALSO I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY IT IS THAT WE PUT MOVIE STARS AS HEROS. PEOPLE ARE NOW HEROS BY THE VIRTUE OF MONEY, AS OPPOSED TO CLASSIC HEROS. THOSE WHO HAD TO STRIVE AND AND SUFFER FOR THE ALL OF HUMAN KIND ARE HEROS. NOT THOSE THAT GET PAID TO ACT LIKE THEY SUFFER. THE TRUE WORTH OF A MAN ISNT MEASUERED BY WHAT HE DOES FOR HIMSELF BUT WHAT HE DOES FOR SUMONE ELSE. REMMEBER THAT!!!

Family Support is one of the most importaint thing any one person could have. With out having the support of the people who raised you and gave you what you have now some kids might end up in the streets and soon enough joining a gang. Most people already think that having gangs in the streets is not nessesary, mainly because of all the violent crimes they do. I agree we already have so much hate in this world we do not need the violence to go along with it. Gang violence accounts for 77% of the homicides in Los Ageles, where there are approximatly 400 gangs in this city alone according to LA Times. According to a national law enforcement survey, there were 28,700 gangs and 780,200 gang members since 1998. If you were to ask a young gang member why he/she joined a gang, and the most frequent answer will be that his friend are in the gang. I really doubt you could call a gang a family, would family make you do something illegal knowing how wrong it is?

"A BROKEN NECK"

SHE SAID SHE WOULD PREFER A BROKEN NECK TO ANOTHER BROKEN HEART. I WAS TALKING TO ONE OF MY EX'S LAST NIGHT(SHE CALLED FOR ADVICE) ABOUT HER ISSUE SHE WAS HAVING WITH HER NEW BF. HE WAS ACTING OUT OF LINE WITH HER AND SHE DIDNT KNOW HOW TO TAKE IT. HE SAID SOMTHING TO THE AFFECT OF "YOUR NOT THE ONLY WOMEN IN THE LINEUP" AND SHE WAS DEVISTATED. SHE KNOWS THAT HE ISNT CHEATING BUT SHE WAS STILL TORN BY THE STATMENT. I WAS LISTENTIN TO HER AND TO ME IT SEEMED SO OBVIOUS "LEAVE HIM" RIGHT? WELL ANYWAYS I SIT AND LISTEN SOMEMORE TO HER CRYING.SO I TELL HER NOT TO CRY AND I SAY "NO MAN IS WORTH UR TEARS, AND THE ONE WHO IS WONT MAKE YOU CRY" SO SHE SMILES AND ALL SEEM RIGHT WITH THE WORLD, UNTIL SHE DECIDES TO OPEN UP MORE ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP THAT WE USED TO HAVE. SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE WAS SORRY THINGS WENT THE WAY THEY DID AND SHE DIDNT MEAN TO MAKE THE MISTAKES SHE DID. I WASNT REALLY INTO THE CONVERSATION SO WE WENT BACK TO TALKING ABOUT HER CURRENT SITUATION. AND I WAS TELLING HER THAT SHE SHOULD JUST FOLLOW HER HEART AND IT WILL ALL BE GOOD. SHE SAID THAT SHE REALLY LOVED HIM AND SHE DIDNT WANT TO LOSE HIM. THAN SHE LOOKED ME IN THE EYES AND SAID "I WOULD PREFER A BROKEN NECK TO ANOTHER BROKEN HEART" WHAT DO YOU SAY TO THAT? SHE SAID THAT WHAT SHE SHARES WITH DUDE MEANS A LOT TO HER BUT SHE JUST CANT TAKE THE DRAMA ANYMORE. SO I GUESS WHAT I'M TRYING TO ASK IS WHY DO PEOPLE STAY IN CARRPY RELATIONSHIPS EVEN WHEN ITS BAD FOR THEM? I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND THE MENTALITY OF WOMEN(I THINK SOME WOMEN DONT UNDERSTAND THEMSELVES) BUT I SWEAR IF I COULD SWEAR TO GOD I ASK HER WAT THE F**K WAS SHE THINKING WHEN SHE GAVE US FREE WILL(SHIHAN SAID THAT LIL LINE) AND I WOULD ASK GOD WHY PEOPLE ARE ATTRACTED TO THEIR OPPOSITES. THIS JUS GOT ME THINKING, AND I THOUGHT I'D SHARE IT WITH THE HOPES OF STIMULATING THE MINDS OF OTHERS...

Agreed,

I could not agree more,

We often think we're on top of the food pyramid, but we seriously are not,

Some may say these are half baked thoughts worthy of a FOX sitcom, but if you think deep you will understand how we depends on plants, and plants depend on us and the rhythm of life is played to an erratic tune, yet some of us understand this tune and let it play in our heads. Life is complex, but when you start respecting plants, animals, others life becomes easier, and we receive the gift of the meaning of life itself.

You don't live in Ohio. You don't live in Florida. The chance is pretty small that California will decide the presidential election. So: Why vote?

Here's why. This list is important—so please read it, and then pass it along. And remember: To find out where to vote, what you need to bring, or when the polls close, go here: www.voteforchange.com.

The Top 5 Reasons To Vote In California
Or: Why It Still Means A Thing Even If It Ain't Got That Swing

Big margin = big mandate. The popular vote doesn't put anyone in the White House, but it affects what presidents can do when they get there. Want Obama to be able to actually do the stuff he's been talking about? Pass universal health care? End the war? Then we need a landslide.

The other things on the ballot matter! There are important issues on the California ballot this year, and progressives all need to weigh in. You better believe our opponents will turn out and vote on them. Also, there's Congress. Without more support in the House and Senate, Obama will have a hard time getting progressive laws passed.

If you don't vote, everyone can find out. Voting records are public. (Not who you voted for, just whether you voted.) Pretty soon, finding out whether you voted could be as easy as Googling you.

Help make history. You could cast one of the votes that elect the first African-American president. If we win, we'll tell our grandchildren about this election, and they'll tell their grandchildren. Do you really want to have to explain to your great-great-grandchildren that you were just too busy to vote in the most important election in your lifetime?

People died so you'd have the right to vote. Self-government—voting to choose our own leaders—is the original American dream. We are heir to a centuries-long struggle for freedom: the American Revolution, and the battles to extend the franchise to those without property, to women, to people of color, and to young people. This year, many will still be denied their right to vote. For those of us who have that right, it's precious. If we waste it, we dishonor those who fought for it and those who fight still.

Live your values. Love your country. Vote.

What I learned with my research for Pro middle age pregnancy that they are some risks. The risk can be high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, low birth weight, miscarriage, infertility and if your 45 or older a chance of Down syndrome. Anything worth wanting or having is worth the risk. With the medical care we have this day in age the chances of the baby be ill is quite slim. Woman who put their career before children suddenly realize a family is also important. They realize what’s the point of a career if you have no one to share it with. Also they have the means to provide their child with medical care if need be. I really do not understand why people would care if older women that want children get judge. If someone did their research, check their family tree and are prepare for children should have them. People can say Down syndrome or other dieses that the child might have, but if the women in her 40s uses donor eggs from a 20 year old her baby will come out fine.
Also, the person that really in danger of risk is the mother. If a 40 year old woman wants to go through hell and back to have a child, let them. They have to suffer the disappointments if in virto fails, they have to cope with miscarriages, and if they still care after that the loss of the thousands of dollars. Another point is she might die when the child is young. Well everyone might die when their child is growing up, that’s a reality that no one wants to face, but it’s real. Know they are older they might have a plan to have someone responsible to take care of their child incase something horrible happens.
So I have to say “Go Pro Middle Age pregnancies”.

So I first want to congratulate everyone who went today for getting it over with. I have lost many hours of sleep to this debate, and I'm glad to have them back in my life (oh, how I have missed you!! haha)

Secondly, I want to congratulate Alisa, because she came out of her shell and spoke very well in front of class and right after, got 152 in bowling, which led our team "Whatnot" to win 3 consecutive games against the powerhouse team. YAY!

On the other hand, I felt like I was out of my game. Oh, how frustrated I was at not being able to express things correctly!! I want a rematch, dang it. haha.

But overall, I think it was very fun. The other group was a very fun group to go up against, I laughed during the debate which was great, and it was just super fun!

I like the "no homework" day, but now I have nothing to do and probably will just keep blogging after this. haha.

Good luck to the other groups who will go on Wednesday. Hey, that's my payday! woohoo!

i am the starter for my group and we are pro family. somethings that i am going to say are you can turn your back on your family and they will still love you . in a gang if you turn your back on them you are basically screwed. i am also gonna bring up peer pressure how that you family doesn't pressure you to do bad things while in a lot of gangs you are forced to handle a gun or kill an intent. we are going to talk about protection and why do you need to be in a gang to feel protected i for one no that my family has my back i don't need to join a gang to feel safe. another thing is emotional problems gangs might force you to do something that you really don't want to do and then you have to live with that choice that you made to kill or hurt someone your whole life. a family accepts you know matter what. lastly family influences like how your family influences you to do better in life such as in school or in work just in general but in a gang they force you to make bad decisions.

There is always something more we can learn about how to improve our jail systems i do defiantly believe they should invest more in the education benefits of the jal systems to give prisoners a chance to change if they want to. but we still have to keep in mind these are prisoners they are in there for a reason so we dont want to give them a inch and then have them take a foot. I had a great time during the debate today, even though it was really cold in front of the class. At least until I got to talk =D ahah. The best advice I can give anyone who is debating is to research the pro and con of your topic immensly! Just seeing the information helps. Oh, and pay great attention to what everyone says at all times. You can use it a lot. If you know what the other group is talking about and you remember reading something that can be argued against it, than the debate is really fun. It is a goood healthy competition so have fun!

Point of the story is that he went to jail and the time there changed his mind about still having that gang mentality or attitude. He's been out of trouble ever since he got out of jail.

Well my team Beautiful Struggle went up second today, and i wasnt nervous but after i cussed "ass" i lost my spot. and i blanked because i believe Mr. H was going to say, "jovana, you lost compulsure, go sit down and oh yeah you FAIL!!!" so i was scared of that. luckyli he was very nice and let it slide (did i ever mention he rocks?) lol.

While doing research I came upon the findings of Dennis Anderson Thorp(Ph.D.,University of Florida). He asked Florida state prisoners if their programs were ever interrupted by the prison staff breaking up fights between immates. 60% of the prison staff comfirmed it, however, 67% of the prisoners interviewed denied it. Because they know rehab is a quick easy to get outthey lie in order to stay in those programs,
The 3 strikes legislation was passed by voters who wanted to put these offenders behind bars for public safety. This cost a fortune but crime statistics show crime is down.
The majority of people like you and me agreed that crimminals should be put away.

I also learned that former inmates go back to jail within their 3 years of being released also there are no sound scientific research to determine how different individuals react to the same rehabilitating methods. rehabilitation may depend more decisively on the individual psychological background, hence on his particular motives to commit crimes, than on the rehabilitating methods or philosophy.a rehabilitation program may prove to be too costly and complex to be successfully implemented in most countries.

so i thought i would talk about the first half hour of our class today...WOW! i dont really know how else to describe it...touching...eye opening maybe? anyways...it was a really good discusion. i just want to say to brenda that i am so sorry about your loss...and i know that nothing anyone says can make it better. it is gonna hurt, and you are gonna be sad, but it will pass, and the pain may never go away, but it will go from a stabbing feeling in your heart to a tiny ache every once in a while. i have been through quite the year...i lost my uncle on may 12th and a really close friend on june 2nd...needless to say it was a horrible way to end my senior year. when everyone was enjoying prom and last sports events including my last dance show for my high school career...i was having trouble even smiling. i am still working on getting through it, but now i am dealing with my best friend having stage 4 cancer. it is horrible. i hope to god that she makes it out alive, and doesnt have to leave me and the rest of her family. any ways back to my uncle and friend kacie that passed away at the end of my senior year. it was the worst time i can remember ever going through, but it really opened my eyes. it made me realize how much i want to have a great life, and how much i want to be successful. my dad told me this when my uncle died: "we are sad because they are gone, but the truth is we are being selfish. they are happy, in the best place ever imagined. and we are sad for no other reason but that we have to live without them." i love my dad...he is so full of wisdom and life lessons. and what he said is so true. its okay to be sad, but life has to go on, and it will whether you want it to or not. i miss my uncle and kacie, but i know they dont want me sitting around being sad all the time. so anways...our class discusion was great, it was nice to hear everyone point of view...this class isnt like one i have ever been in...it has been quite the wild ride, but a great learning experience.

I have failed to find an un-biased opinion on capitalism. The only reliable source seems to be dictionary.com's defintion. From my first person point of view my household is some what of a capitalistic society now that I have already turned 18 and going on 19 next month. I have to provide for myself and what I bring in is my profit alone and what I own is mine with little or no control from my parents(government). It's kind of a weak example but it's all i could think of because of the ininite amount of capitalists on the web and there biased opinions. If any one has any better examples help a brada out. A lot of pro's have been mentioned on the websites i have vistited with very valid points for example Capitalism.org states "To live rationally in society, man requires only one thing from his fellow men: freedom of action. Freedom of action does not mean freedom to act by permission, which may be revoked at a dictator's, or a democratic mob's, whim, but the freedom to act as an absolute -- by right.Man requires rights to those actions necessary to support his own life, the most fundamental right being the right to life, from which all other rights, including the right to liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness, derive." I feel what they are sayin on that one/ My interpretation is: you look out for you and you alone and don't let anybody tell you what you can and can't do with your money or life. ATTACKER for Gang/Friend Support vs Family support.

I am not here to convince you that gang/friend support is better than family support. Heck, I do not even believe that statement myself. With that being said, my intentions are to simply inform, so those who are ignorant will not be quick to choose what they think is the "good side" (in this case, family).

What about those who do not have a family? Especially if one resides in a bad area, in which life or death depends on which gang they choose.

I know I socialize a whole heck of a lot more with friends than I do family, and I know many others do as well. When I am with my friends, it is basically a bunch of laughs and common interests. I love my family and all, but we are all basically a bunch of different people. Maybe if I was raised around more family, if many did not live so far away, this would be a tough subject for me. The little family I do know, and vice versa, would not be the type that I bond with. My friends, on the other hand, share similar situations to mine, good or bad. If you have the right friends, such as mine, they will always be there for you. No, I am not saying family will not, but get this:
Family is there for all the big events in your life,
[close] Friends are there for EVERYTHING

After all, here's a little saying that I'm sure a couple of people have heard before:

Your friends and family write you letters while you are in jail.

Your good friends and close family visit you while you are in jail.

Your close/best friend(s) is/are sitting next to you saying, "Damn, we messed up pretty good, huh!"

Once again, do not get me wrong, I love my family and my friends.
It is Mr. Hsiao's twisted sense of humor that decided to sever such close ties, forcing me to choose a side. :)

Oh and, long story short, I live with my grandparents. So, to the team going against mine, do not be surprised if I pull some things from my childhood.

Stay focused everyone, and good luck to you all.

Heck, good luck to me. We debate tomorrow. =(

A failure of governance has led us into this mess. California has become the global leader in prison construction and sentencing, and its prisons have become brutal places for children and adults alike. Polls show that 3 out of 4 Californians prefer rehabilitation and prevention over sending more young people to prison. But neither political party seems willing to stand up to the prison guards union, whose jobs and million-dollar annual war chest depend on the size of the inmate population.

My group and I met up last night to work on our debate:) Our position in the debate is for taxing the poor. We can up with the simple facts that the rich should get taxed, because they can actually afford to be taxed, and still be well off. The poor sometimes cannot even support themselves, they cant possibly afford to pay taxes. If the rich were to pay taxes, they would contribute to the society by using he money for schools, programs, and help society improve. Ok, I may not make very good sense, because I cant really put it in words, but I know what im going to say!. Here are a few of stats found on the topic: After taxes, the richest one-tenth of one percent still received 7.65% of total income. In 2004, the top 10% of American households received, before taxes, 46.25% of total household income, and after taxes, 42.7%.According to the Congressional Budget Office, in 2005, 86.3% of all Federal Income Taxes were paid for by the top 20% of households by income. In 1979, the top 20% of all households paid 64.9% of Federal Income taxes. Goes to show how the rich pay they equal share of taxes, and shows the big difference and effect taxing the rich have on society.

There are over 2.2 million people in prison in the United States. For California, it costs over $43,000 a year per inmate to house them. You do the math. We hold more prisoners in our jails than any other country in the world. OC Register did a report where experts say that CA taxpayers could save $561 to $684 million a year if we properly rehabilitated our inmates. It will also reduce prison overcrowdedness, which will reduce prison violence, and reduce prison illness and disease.

One thing i found out about capitalism,is that it creates competition among companies to better sell and produce their product. To me this is a good win situation to the consumer because it creates cheaper and better quality products. Game systems, cars, computers, clothes, medicine all compete to originate and innovate to draw in the consumer to get their product. With no competition, a single company can control the price of a product and can cause the quality to go down as well as the price to go up.Maybe because of this I always see those annoying commercials about Mac and Pc.I dont know. Thats probably capitalism doing its job.

I did some digging on my debate topic, Institutionalization vs. Rehab and came across some interesting information. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics and the American Psychiatric Association, there are many psychological distresses that a person who is incarcerated goes through. On of the most common anguishes is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) which is caused by both upsetting experiences before being put in jail and abuse that is experienced during their incarceration. Inmates are exposed to so much abuse physically and mentally that many never recover. Antisocial Personality Traits are developed both from preexisting symptoms and symptoms developed during incarceration as an institutional coping mechanism and psychological defense mechanism. The main antisocial personality traits involve the tendency to challenge authority, break rules, and victimize others. Those who are incarcerated always carry with them that sense or need to be in control of everything and can quickly resort to their old ways if things do not go according to plan. According to Terence T. Gorski who has published many books on incarceration and relapse prevention, 60% of inmates will relapse after going through a rehabilitation program. We are better off keeping criminals incarcerated than letting them run free to cause more anarchy.

Dang haven't been on here in a while. My bad. I've been preparing for my debate on the topic of pro jail time. I have found plenty of information on statistics on how much it costs to put someone in jail or prision, college courses offered in the system, rehabilitation for inmates, along with inmate interviews and expieriences.Whether i personaly am for or against it is not the case but the information i have read does make good points and why criminals should be inprisioned and how it may help them in the long run, even if they are serving life sentences programs in the system can help betterthem as a person even though they will be spending the rest of there lives behind bars. These progams seem to all cost the same or maby even less than sending someone to a rehab center but again all i am trying to do it support my assigned topic of discussion. I can relate to the topic of discusion last week thursday where nick brought up that we are playing roles and our pinions don't really matter. Real talk i feel like i am rehersing lines for a role in a play or tv show. I can picture in my mind that when i debate it is going to be like an episode of law and order, and I gotta bring the A game. Well lets hope its not a ll a day dream and i do bring my A game when i debate because i know and Mr. Hsiao knows im gonna need it.

Institutionalization vs. Rehab

According to Justicepolicy.org it costs around $64,338 per person for a rehab program. It only cost an average of $23,876 to keep someone incarcerated. A lot more money is spent on rehab programs and there is not guarantee that the person in question will be responsible enough to follow through with what he or she has “learned” from their program. The Denver Post states that studies generally find that imprisoning more offenders reduces crime as opposed to letting them return to society. Incarceration has helped the number of crimes get to an all-time low. In the past 20 years, according to the FBI, violent-crime rates fell by about 25 %, 464 for every 100,000 people in 2007. By allowing criminals to enter rehabilitation programs, we only allow “career criminals” to continue their dirty work. The average career criminal annually adds $40,000 to the cost of the criminal justice system (including investigation, defense, incarceration, parole, and probation). Setting them free means the situation will keep repeating itself. Every time an inmate returns to jail the process starts all over again and ever time it starts it costs us $40,000.

My group and I met once this weekend to figure out what we can do for our debate. Taxing the poor is undesireable. We tax them not base on income tax but on sin tax. The poor has a higher rate of crime. So there for we should punish the poor by taxing them for ruining our streets, neighborhoods, and etc. It is still very hard to debate on pro taxing the poor but our group can still do it. goodluck to all debaters. Goodnight.

The debate between teenage vs middle age pregnancies is not as big as a thought it would be. We are pro middle age pregnancy and after doing all different kind of research I came up with different ideas for the debate. Did you know that the teenage pregnancy percent has gone down significantly since 1991. It seems that more people are starting to realize that it is not a good idea for a teen to have a baby. Not only are the adults educating the teens but the teens are also listening. It is never good to see a high schooler drop out of high school and that is exactly what happens with 66% of the girls that get pregnant. I really hope that the numbers keep dropping as the years go by.

Anti-Capitalistic does not mean I support Socialism, and its relative branches. Having a few Socialist influenced beliefs and views does not make me a socialist. Capitalism is a more generalized descriptive term of Americas Neo-liberalistic ways. The so called Reaganomics era of Oval office flipchart psa's and degrading social mobility has lead us to economic turmoil on a "global" scale. Now instead of hurting(taking advantage, giving them job opportunities, whatever you want to call it) the intended exploited proletariat , it is hurting everyone. Globalization is the cancerous offspring of such a unregulated and misinterpreted culture of Capitalism. The collapse, and now awaiting recovery of our economy overshadowed by the presidential campaign smears towards Barack Obama calling him a Socialist has done nothing but exploited a working class mans ignorance.

It is hard to put a solid post and not show my sword. So i opted for a descriptive post of my research. Accumulated views and opinions in my own words from various different sources.

-Numerous Articles written by Noam Chomsky in the Irish Times and MIT news columns.
-Das Kapital By: Karl Marx
-Idebate.org(Pro & Anti Capitalist Arguments & Capitalism vs. Socialism Arguments.)
-Of course Wikipedia and no wikipedia is not a weak source if you go down to their reference column and go directly to the source to confirm its accuracy.

For my opponents and opponents in other class with the relative topic. There are key words, and statements forming my stand. Look at the people I mentioned in my resources. Look them up.

To help my opponents more which will actually benefit my accuracy of my predicted timeline and outline of the opponent.

Pro & Anti Capitalism

-Neo-Liberalism
-Socialism
-Market Economy
-Inequality
-Primitive Accumulation
-Social Relations
-Noam Chomsky
-Leon Trotsky
-Karl Marx, Das Kapital
-Supply Demand
-Tariffs and Taxes
-Globalization/Materialism
-Keynesian(ties with or spend spend culture and its development)
-Monetarism(Milton Friedman)
-Capitalism vs. Religious beliefs against interest
-Monopolies
-Laissez Faire Negative and Positive Liberty
-Inflation, Recession, The Depression
-Exploitation of policies and beliefs of both sides.
-Lack of government regulation vs. Strictly controlled economic policies. Can there be an in between and not call it Communism or Socialism whatever they teach you in high school to call it when you see red and yellow stars or government intervention.

To become strong you must know your weakness.
To overcome you must know your obstacle.
To walk into a gun fight with nothing, and then to leave with everything from his victim disarmed. To then leave with not a bullet of your own wasted and your opponent disarmed is the goal.

My topic on tomorrow's debate is Family Support vs. Family/Gang Support. Unfortunately, I am pro family/gang support. Although I disagree I found interesting reasons why kids today, join gangs. First, most kids that are used to gang life have no choice but to be in a gang. Most families that are involved in gangs intiatate their kids into their gangs. They join as sense of belonging and they believe they are building a bigger family. With a bigger family in a gang, the more protected they feel. Secondly, most kids that are in poverty see gangs as an outlet. It easy to make good money when involved in gangs. The bigger the gang the more opportunity to have more access to hustle drugs and make money. Thirdly, gangs can give you power and more self-esteem. Belonging in a gang can feel like one could do anything they desire. With protection from the members, they are invinvible. Enough for now, youll just hear it tomorrow :)

Rehabilitation vs Imprisonment

I am suppose to meet my group tomorrow before the debate. I have found that there is a lot research being done on rehabilitation than imprisonment. Many people beleive that we should give the offender a second chance, but everyone needs to remember that they put themselves there. If someone commits a crime he or she needs to be held responsible, and do time if necessary. As a socity we have laws, that we havetoo abide. We need to set example of those that do not follow them, instesd of feeling pitty for them. That is all havetoo say for now.

Pro Capitalism/ Materialism

To sum up the research my group and I found regarding our topic I would say is human nature. Something we all wish we can control but will never be able to. Of course ideally we would all want to be equal. And there not be a big gap with the social classes. Does not work that way. Entrepreneurship is inevitable because there will always some who will strive to accumulate a fortune. So would there be ever be some time of medium with people who are content with producing enough for the community and for those who want a higher standard of living? How about economic materialism? ya? haha yes Darla and I had a conversation how this can work. That is all for now. I hope that made some sense.

Today is November 4th. You know what that means! Now that I am an absentee voter I will not be getting a “I voted" sticker :( o well at least I saved myself some gas lol. Ok I need some sleep I am talking nonsense.

This is for anybody who is nervous about their debate coming up. It's going to be a piece of cake. I was so scared to speak. But once i started speaking time flew by so fast. I didnt even get a chance to say all that i had to say. I juss took a deep breath and calmed down and ended up doing pretty good.

Brenda: You are a very good person and I will pray for you and your friend's family. You guys will make it. You just have to keep your head held up high. God is good and he does work in mysterious ways as Marisela said in class before. Love you much.

To all others doing the debate: It's really not that bad. Three minutes seems like SOOOOO long, but when I got in the flow of my argument, I was cut off. I actually ran out of time. A good tip is to make sure that you talk about all of your STRONGEST arguments, leave the filler stuff out because you might not get to say ev erything you wanted. After doing the debate, I actually think that one or two more minutes would have been sufficient to argue my point. However, it's three minutes that must be survived; (not that hard) just come prepared with note cards and it shouldn't be too bad.... Go Vote!

I was doing some research about Anti-Capitalism and came across some interesting facts. The first topic that was brought up is about how Capitalism is inhuman. We live in a system that rewards the greedy and self-interested animals that seek to thrive economically. We let these aspects of our human nature be dominant because we live in a society that enforces it, so that it can grow economically to gain wealth and power. The second fact is that Capitalism is anti-democratic. "Capitalism is a wealth-concentrating system. If you concentrate wealth in a society, you concentrate power... If we understand democracy as a system that gives ordinary people a meaningful way to participate in the formation of public policy, rather than just a role in ratifying decisions made by the powerful, then it's clear that capitalism and democracy are mutually exclusive." quoted by Robert Jensen. The third topic is that Capitalism is unsustainable. Robert stated that the idea of capitalism is based on unlimited growth, and our planet only has a limited supply of resources. So, we have more problems piling up as we use up our resources simply for our enjoyment. Another topic covered was about an acronym that we americans use, TGIF. TGIF, meaning thank goodness its friday, is a common phrase that "communicates a sad reality for many working in this economy -- the jobs we do are not rewarding, not enjoyable, and fundamentally not worth doing." Commonly people do their jobs to put food on the table, and on the weekends they go out, get drunk, and hope to enjoy their weekend as much as they can before they have to get up in the morning and go back to work again. According to Robert "To be realistic we are told we must capitulate to a system that steals our souls, enslaves us to concentrated power, and will someday destroy the planet... What is truly crazy is falling for the con that an inhuman, anti-democratic, and unsustainable system -- one that leaves half the world's people in abject poverty". That is just some opinion for everyone to reflect on. Peace.

The debate between pro-capitalism and the opposition is going to be extremely balanced. Our 2 opposing groups on the subject are already on the same page of what we are debating, more specifically our points, counter-points, and other subgeneres of topics. I am especially looking forward to going against Nam as he is very knowledgeable and is evident he has some experience with this topic. To preserve valid points, I'm not giving away any of the points that have already been brought up in our group talk, but I will say that there will be a fairly even battleground, as both groups have very bright competitors and much research has been put into the topic as of yet.

So my argument is pretty easy to get facts for and to defend. The majority of the population see early teenage pregnancy as a burden. It is actually focused on in the public’s eye. Where as Middle age pregnancy is not focused on as an abnormality, but sometimes even thought of as good. A lot of people see it as the parents waiting til they are ready in every aspect to have a child. Well to be fair I will look at the information that is against my view on early teen pregnancy vs. Middle Age/Elderly pregnancy. Women who wait til the ages of 35 or older to have their first child usually have to do a lot to ensure a safe pregnancy and child birth. Many women who are over 35 must see fertility doctors constantly before they think about conceiving and during the pregnancy. When elderly women give birth, their child usually is has a very low birth weight, which can affect the child’s life as they get older. A good percentage of elderly mothers also have premature births, meaning they give birth up to a month or two months before the expected birth. Another worry and argument against elderly pregnancy is that the women will be too old to effectively take care of the child when the child hits grade school. That the woman will be less active and have less energy to handle what a young child needs to do to stay healthy. Well I have gone against my point now let me defend it. Women who usually wait until they are 35 years or older, usually do it for a good reason. They either want to wait until they are married and have a reliable spouse that will stay with them for the pregnancy and to raise the child. They also wait this long because they wanted to focus their earlier life on the success of their careers. And now that they feel they are in a comfortable spot financially, they feel they are prepared to have a child. Well I have defended my point a tad, now its time to look at the pros of the opposing argument. A possible argument to defend early teenage pregnancy can look at the biology of the body. If the human psyche is not created to handle the emotional and physical drain having a child is, then why were we created to have the ability to give child birth at the age of 13. We can also look at older times where it was very common for a teenage girl of 13 or 14 to be married and already have a child. But the retrospec to that argument is that people had a shorter life expectnancy then now, with the improvements in technology. Now the downside to early teen pregnancy. Teens that are 13 – 15 years old are most of the time neither financially or emotionally ready to have a child. A child takes a lot of money and time and at that age they are still required to go to school and to get a job you need to have a work permit. To get a work permit you have to be 15 with parents and school’s approval. And how can a young teenager have enough time for a child if they have to go to school and work to even support the child, meaning they have to depend on others to help them through the rough times, which will set up the child to not be self-dependent when they get older. Eight out of ten children who were born to early teenage parents, will have a child in their early teens too, and the cycle will continue.

My topic is pro family. I am the prover of our group and it was really interesting to see how many facts there were about how negitive being in a gang is. They might have your back but gangs are just as unstable as a broken home and they have a tendency to be more aggressive and violent. When you turn your back on your family they will be upset and hurt but in the end they will always love you and let you back home.If you turn your back on a gang or diss them in any way, your pretty much dead. There is NO second chance with a gang.Famlies might be broken but they will always have a stronger bond then a gang .

My topic for the debate is Rehabilitation vs Institutionalism. After researching on the internet, i realized that there is a lot of information on my topic. I never realized what a huge issue it was until now. COnvicts should be put in rehab centers rather than put away in prison for the rest of their lives. SOme people may argue that putting convicts in rehab is just giving them a second chance and not making them realize their mistakes.HOwever, in jail, the programs they have in jail, are limited and do not offer as much as rehab centers do. After coming out of jail for practically your whole life, it can be difficult to come back and live with society. Rehab help people every step of the way and someone is always there to help you. IN prison, convicts are more focused on the punishment they are recieving rather than trying to change and reform themselves. In rehab, the main focus is tryign to change, so later on, when they go out into society, they are not that same person they were before.

More pros for the later pregnancies: Since the parents are much older they will be emotionally stable. Meaning that they won’t feel the pressure to freak out too much over things. Mostly because they baby was a planned one. They have done the research and they know what to expect. Another pro to having a later pregnancy is the baby has a better chance at a better life. Older parents know how to take care of themselves unlike teenagers who are still developing and who are still figuring themselves out. They know how to handle living situations. Parents over 35 will not be as tied down as a teenager who has a child. Teenagers still want to live life. They still have a lot of things to learn themselves. Teenagers are going through changes. I highly doubt becoming a parent at the age they are at is one of their priorities. Mature adults have lived life already. They want to settle down and have a family. They have careers. Which means they have a stable income. A stable income means a better life for the baby. Money is crucial to the life of a baby. Things such as diapers, clothes, formula and toys do not come at a low cost. Teenagers who have children young usually are still in school. They barely have enough cash to fill up their cars with gas. How could they possibly care for a child on their own? Young adults can’t even live on their own let alone pay for another human. It is difficult to get a decent paying job without an education. Young parents wouldn’t be able to obtain a job that pays well and is flexible. If a baby were to come into a young woman’s life and if she were to keep it, she would want a fatherly role in the baby’s life. That’s not always the case though. Young men most of the time want nothing to do with a child at such a young age because they never wanted a child in the first place. On the other hand, older men are more willing because the child was planned with their wife.
The baby is wanted and planned in the older relationship. Adoption could be an option. But I know I wouldn’t feel easy about it even after years later. A teenagers body is going through changes such as puberty. There are also other things that change the way a teen feels such as drugs. An older parent won’t really rely on this type of activity for any reason. They are through with those days…you could say. The baby needs a strong environment to develop in. A teenager’s ways could endanger the way the baby looks and acts. Making an older couple highly dependable on making sure a baby’s development is safe and healthy. After the birth the baby still has a better chance of survival with an older couple. A younger couple has to worry about who has to take care of the child ,who gets to go out with their friends, and money.

A some what later pregnancy seems to be the way to go.

Obesity

I have been researching this topic for a while now and found a lot of important information. The Los Angeles city counseling planning committee unanimously approved a one-year ban on fast food outlets in a 32-square-mile area of Los Angeles. This ban could be extended to another year. The Los Angeles city counseling planning committee made this decision after finding out that in the Los Angeles area 30 about percent of kids are obese. A spokesman of the California Restaurant Association, argues, "Even fast food establishments have healthy choices now. They all offer salads and smaller portions". Other cites also have adopted similar laws. In New York there is a law that is trying to be passed, that would eliminate every other fast-food restaurant. There is a already a law that requires fast-food restaurants in New York to post calorie counts above counters. In 2003, California banned soft drinks from middle and elementary schools or sold after school only.
-Causes of Obesity
-High calorie eating habits
-Lack of exercise
-Stress
-Hormonal disorders
-Culture
Now, to help the opposing team, here are some positive things about obesity:
-Obesity is reversible in most cases
-There is help out there for this “epidemic”
Well I tried to help you......good luck.

To the pros of obesity (Cody, Tommy, Ashley, and Maria) try to back this up. It is all numbers so they cannot be disproved. I have learned to to calculate a persons Body Mass Index (BMI). The obesity reates in the United States are alarming. People are at risk. Hospital bills, blood pressure, and rates of depression are all on the rise because of its direct relation with obesity. I voted already! now i get to go to starbuck and get a free hot chocolate or cofee. COOL!

well the debate was fun but i get nervous anyway. The minorities were good and they had alot of good facts and i think they did a good job. Especially at the end James had some really good comebacks.
Then my group the go getters, we were good aswell i am proud of my team we were able to get them back with our facts. Eva did a really good introduction by stating everything that we would talk about. Veronica was really good aswell she ended her time with a really good fact that i think got everyones attention. Cathrina was good and im sure she wanted more time and it sux that there wasnt much time. She was able to say good facts about what we were arguing and i hope that made everyone see that ESL is good!

As for me i was nervous and i think i didnt do so well but my other team mates did and thats good. The three minutes went by pretty fast and i thought the 3 minutes would take forever to finish.
Overall the debates were good im looking forward to all the other debates

thank you Yue, i seriously do not even know how i have gotten so much better at bowling, my average is 79 and i got 152! heck yes!
So i voted about a week or so ago, so i just wanted Mr. Hsiao to know that even though i will not have an i voted sticker tomorrow, i did vote.
So the debates were a lot different then what i expected. I expected there to be more arguing and just the whole thing to be a lot longer. The three minuets i had to talk actually went by pretty fast, i was really surprised.
I want to say thanks to my group!
i think we did a great job and we worked together really well.
Chris thanks for telling me i did a good job i really appreciate it. You really surprised me. I knew you were smart and i knew you were going to do a good job, but i did not expect you to do as great as you did. Every moderator should be like you! When your team needed you, you were there for them, and your closing statment was really good. Even though i was on the opposing side i couldn't help but laugh when you made fun of us. What can i say, i have to laugh when someone makes a good joke, and you made a few good ones:)
Even though this was a good experience for me, please Mr. Hsiao no more debates:)

Teen Pregnancy

By the age of 18, a young woman's body is well prepared for childbearing. Young men are equally qualified to do their part. Both may have better success at the enterprise than they would in later years, as some health risks- Cesarean section and Down syndrome, for example- increase with passing years. (The dangers we associate with teen pregnancy, on the other hand, are behavioral, not biological: drug use, STD'd, prior abortion, extreme youth, and lack of prenatal care.) A woman's fertility has already beugn to decline at 25-one reason the population-control crowd promotes delayed childbearing. Early childbearing also rewards a woman's health with add protection against breast cancer.

I said YES and if my Daughter is gay I will love her. Of course her lame response was "Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve". Honestly if they want to convert people use something that makes sense, or use different material. That’s when I said "That’s why you’re Stupid and Ignorant, if you’re so religious you should love all of Gods creatures". I guess I was right and she drove away. Yay!! I voted!!!
I never knew Yes on 8 People are nuts!! Well after I voted I walked home, and I was talking on the phone with my sister. A lady was putting a Yes on 8 sign on a lawn, at that moment I told my sister I voted No on 8. Still walking The Crazy lady asked me if I was pregnant. I am glad I have such a loud voice that she heard me. Whatever happens with Prop 8 and if she doesn’t get what she wants she can remember me.

So we went over our three main points on our debate in class and Monster Im not sure but you might be in some trouble tonight lol :)

Here is a little more info for our debate. Within 5 years 92% of criminals return to jail, only 45% of criminals that come out of rehibilitation programs go back to jail. Also criminals that leave rehibilitation programs back into the world get jobs buy houses and help our economy, unlike the criminals sitting in jail sucking all our money up like a blood sucking leach.

As far as I research, I don’t see many positive statistics that support middle age pregnancy. Here is few of what I got.
Having baby at both early teen or middle age relates some health problems. Middle ages may face those soon as they are pregnant, but teen mothers may be caught later. Middle age women may have problems with fertility, but medical technique and science is getting higher and better. Fertility difficulties can be solved successfullyin some ways.

As I researched more and more about both sides (capitalism/materialism and essentialism/common man/socialism, I found that there were several alternatives in terms of societal theories. For instance, there are theories of totalitarianism, collectivism, anarchism, and communism.

I also researched on the posterchildren of capitalism: starbucks and nike corporations. They exemplify exloitation both abroad and at home.

I researched the essentialist theory, and historical attempts of utopian societies.

Wow, you've made my day!!! I thank you for having a loud voice, too. hehe

Monster
That's true. I should definitely be thanking everyone who did vote. I mean, I definitely was bitter that I was not able to contribute, but I'm not going to be able to change that. So thank you to everyone who are appreciating your privilage and going out to vote. I'm definitely happy that more people are voting. I don't think I have anything to worry about, because a LOT of people's voice is going to be heard this time.

--------------------
I also can't get extra credit because it's impossible for me to vote, and even if I did get the sticker, Mr. Hsiao already knows that I can't vote. haha.

That's okay, though, because I've gotten enough extra credit for other things. :]

OH and good luck to those who are going to be debating tomorrow! And bring a jacket because like Josh said, it's cold in the front of the classroom!!! :[

My debate group is pro rehabilition
I think that finding information for our debate has not been as hard as I thought that it would. However it seems like you could never have enough. I am always trying to find more and better statics. I think that overall our group is really prepared. We seemed to work really well together. We have found so many great statics to support our main arguments. I think that we have some great information and good team work. We have three main topics that we are going to talk about. We plan on talking about recidivism, the cost of jail vs the cost of rehabilitation and over crowding.Over all i think that we have prepared ourselves for a good debate.

The main points that i am going to hit as the prover is that socialism is national security, equal wealth, and less inflation.
also i am going to try and prove that even though socialism has failed in the past it doesnt mean hat if attepmted at again it will fail again. The people who were in charge basically drove the theory to its end. it was not the theory itself.

Institutionalize...
By definition: to suffer the adverse effects of long-term residence in a residential institution.
I feel that it is more effective to institutionalize a VIOLENT CRIMINAL than try and rehabilitate one.
This topic has been on my mind since the Tongue Twisters received our assignment. Before getting into statistics that I have researched, I would like to point out some of my personal feelings on the effects of sentencing LIFE terms. We are focusing on VIOLENT CRIMINALS within CALIFORNIA. These are criminals who commit murders, homicides and premeditated murders. We are looking to put away rapists and child molesters or perpetrators of any molestation and sexual assault crimes. We are also seeking LIFE terms to those who commit aggravated assault, usually using a deadly weapon. We are focusing on institutions in CALIFORNIA since each state and country has its own judicial system. The word LIFE was emphasized by Mr. Hsiao and from that moment on, we had to put into perspective the criminals we would be aiming to institutionalize. It would be difficult to claim that institutionalizing an offender of a misdemeanor is just. In reasoning that everyone makes mistakes, I cannot help but think of the minor offense myself, a family member, or friend might potentially be involved in and that encourages a type of sympathy for minor types of offenses. I feel that it is the harsh and violent criminals that are in danger to society. I do not feel that everyone or a large majority of violent criminals are able to fully be rehabilitated. Rehabilitation is not a 100% guarantee. Rehabilitation programs are a not always accessible to everyone who is in need of them. Some criminals are in lack of insurance that they would use to fund the rehab programs. Rehabilitation programs do not offer free services. Those who cannot afford rehabilitation programs are at a great risk to get lost in the system and avoid the much needed monitoring. Some rehabilitation housing is set in quiet, calm, and children filled neighborhoods. Who really wants a previous murderer, rapist, or anger fueled criminal residing right next door to them? Which employer really wants to take a chance on someone who can easily turn around and rob them for their money, or kill them because they were scheduled wrong? Fool me once, and its shame on me. Fool me twice, and its shame on you. I however, find it difficult and unnecessary to be put in a situation where one is forced to wrack their brain to find a reason, excuse, or explanation for a third time they were taken advantage of. How can one look little Susie and her family in the eye and try and apologize for Mr. Doe’s actions. When that same person swore Mr. Doe was an excellent candidate for a rehabilitation program, and the risk of assaulting an innocent neighbor would be non-existent. In that one instant on that one particular night, Mr. Doe decided to take little Susie’s innocence away.

According to Marsy’s Law on www.friendsofmarsyslaw.org the chances of being a CALIFORNIA victim of a violent crime are greater than one may think. Of a violent crime, 1 in 4 people closest to you (parents, spouse, children, siblings, friends, associates) will be a victim. I have 4 people inside my household alone, which means that one of us is at a huge risk. Of forcible rape, the chances of 1 and every 792 people closest to you will be a victim. Of aggravated assault, the chances of 1 and every 65 people closest to you will be a victim. Also, the parolee recidivism rate is very high. One may challenge the amount it takes to institutionalize a violent criminal, but we need to consider the amount wasted on a parolee set be released to reoffend. The state needs to fund the search for the criminal who recommits a crime. The state needs to fund the arrest, booking, and housing within the county’s jail. The state needs to retry and reconvict a criminal, which could have all been avoided if sentenced ONCE to a LIFE term. Of VIOLENT OFFENDERS 63% will be arrested and 40% will be reconvicted. 64% of parolees returned to jail or prison. 29% of them committed new crimes, and 35% were technical violations. Technical Violations include carrying guns or weapons, using drugs, violating parolee terms, associating with other criminals. Parole is about the prisoner, it is never about protecting victims or society from new crime, new pain and suffering, and the tremendous financial cost to society, and the personal cost to victims, to put criminals back into prison.

Here are some real facts on crime costs. $4118 is the annual cost of crime to each US citizen when all tangible and intangible costs are included. There is $105 billion annually in medical bills and lost earnings, $450 billion annually when pain, suffering and lost quality of life are counted, $127 billion annually from rape, $93 billion from assault, $61 billion from murder, $56 billion from child abuse. How often do we calculate the cost of the victim when most are mainly concerned of only the prisons?

Debate

Teen pregnancy is an alarming problem, yet even thoug there has been a dramitical rise in the late eigthies, there has been a small decline in the last two or three years. One can then argue in some cases teen pregnacy imrpoves a mother economics. Young mothers work more hours than they would have if they had waited to have a kid. Studies show that they work a thousand hours a year or hundred to two hundred more a year. This would also point out that the challenge of parenthood motivate teen to work harder and expect more of their lives. They do not limit their abilities.

HAHAHAHAHA IM SO HAPPY CNAT WAIT TILL THEY SHOW THE PROPS.

BTW: THE QUIZ 13

My research has been consistent on both sides. I don not want to leave an open field of being attacked so I studied both views. It has been very difficult but since I was given the topic I have to side with teen pregnancy. I have found many positive views and negative points too. Also the in the late term or mid term pregnancy their are various points of views but the thing that unites both is having a baby and all the consequences that they will face during and after their pregnancy.
I wonder how we will do in the debates both groups even if we are against each other I want to have peace until the debate actually begins. My stomach is already feeling horrible like if its tying into knots well wishing the best of luck to Jenny's team. Yeah and mine too. =D Well see yah when they show the props.

I re-read the two stories again and it made a little more sense to me. In the story "Separation-Encounter-Return", what I
got from the story is that he is explaining the meanings of a hero in different parts of life and religion. I didn't understand if he was saying Jesus is a fake and mythical person or he was saying that Jesus is a true hero. That really confused me. In the story "The Way and its Power", I got that a talent that someone has, can not be taken away from them, because that is their special trait and joy in life. If anybody wants and can help me out to find the meaning on these two stories, I would really apporiate that.

I voted for the other guy...

The Republican Party is at a crossroads and must decide what kind of party they want to be. I have been a republican for many years, and made my decision based on foreign policies, welfare, and the wanting less government. However, they are not the same party of the 80’s. Somewhere along the line, they lost who they are and became dominated by religious beliefs. I believe in J.C, but I don’t push it on anybody. The beliefs I have are my own and work for me. I don’t want nor do I expect the rest of the world to share my religious beliefs. We should separate government and church.

Republicans must go back to what we had under the great Ronald Reagan. He believed in equality and freedom for all. He ended the cold war, and suggested that we do not enable people to stay poor. Reagan wanted to put limits on the amount of time that someone is on welfare. How could this be a good thing? Because it meant that people had to have a plan to better themselves. He believed that as a super power, we had a responsibility to police countries where there was threat of communism.

We need less government and fewer stupid laws that are victimless. For example, during the 70’s a law was passed in the city of Walnut that made it illegal to wear a mask in public. WHAT ABOUT HOLLOWEEN? Plus, if someone is walking down the street in a mask, it should raise flags. The helmet and seatbelt laws are also laws that tell grown people what they should do. It should be up to us as grown people to make that decision on our own. We do not need the government to get involved in these things.

If in the next election, the Republicans can’t get their s**t together, I may switch party.

Either way, congratulations to Obama, he ran a well organized campaign.

Peace!

I would like to mention two more things on the election. On this day of change, I was almost close to not voting today, because I didn't recieve a letter saying what place I needed to vote at. Luckly, I went were my mom needs to vote and guess what, they had my name. I was soo glad and excited. It is just soo amazing how God was by my side and let me speak my mind. Another thing to all the young people out there that voted, I thank you for standing up with me, to have are voices heard and taken seriously. Are voices were heard today. So give a pat on the back for standing up for our rights and beliefs.
